Parted company with celtic, it was only a matter of time. I think last nights hammering at st mirren just speeded up the process.

Apparently Neil Lennon will be the new manager, if true thats a terrible appointment.

It's the worst Rangers team I have ever seen and if Walter Smith who is a miracle worker and deserves another crack at top side in Europe leaves then the balance of power will swing back across to Celtic if they get the next appointment right.

How I would love to see Dundee United or Hibes just throw a little bit of cash at there team and we might have an interesting league for a chance. The OF fear factor has gone and every game Celtic and Rangers now play teams know they can get something from the game, Sadly teams like Aberdeen and Hibs will beat the OF then lose at home to Falkirk the next week. Would have been interesting to see how the season would have panned out for 2nd place if Craig Levein had stayed in charge at United. That being said, this is the worst SPL season I have ever seen and anyone who has followed my posts about Scottish football will know I normally defend it to the hilt.

Say what you like about the standard of football in Scotland, but it’s not an easy league to manage in, Ask Paul Le Guen or Kenny Daglish who not only failed to beat there Glasgow counter parts but were regularly being turned over by other teams. Jim Gannon recently came up here and promptly was sent straight back.

The proof is in the pudding, Look at the amount of good managers who came through the Scottish managerial system in the first to leagues in England and the SPL.

Hear hear Cityger - though Mowbray was doing a wonderful job and was just the manager Tic deserved, ie a failure.

Get your money on Paul Lambert being next in line at The Parkhead pie in the skydome, as dont forget the manager has to be "Celtic minded" though nobody in power at the club will come out and say what they actually mean by this, even though its pretty obvious.

Still Mowbray did make it a cakewalk for number 53 so thanks Tony. Robbie Keane really made a difference didn't he - he will probably go back to being a boyhood Wolves/Liverpool/Spurs (delete as appropriate) fan after that shambles.

Far to early for Paul Lambert to take that job, He has been learning his trade in the lower English leagues (after a dismal first job in the SPL) and his stock is high.

I hope he’s smarter than that.

I’m not sure who they go for, Coyle wouldn’t leave Burnley for them but jumped ship for Bolton, Martinez chose Wigan over them. They cant go for an up and coming manager in this position (John Hughes would be my obvious choice) buy why would anyone go there?

Good points Ross. Rangers are skint and I would agree Walter has worked a miracle this season with zero money, having to sell players and little or no squad depth.

Heard from a very good source (indirectly know someone who works within the SFA) that Sounness was right in the frame for the Scotland job, and the main stumbling block was his reluctance to move North and relocate, hence Levein got the job. All the negotiations were done on wages etc, but that problem led to Levein getting the post instead and he will probably turn out better anyway.

I like Souness more than most people but he was the wrong guy for the national job, it would have created too many divides within the support given his past and the national team needed a manager that will bring the squad together. Souness has had disharmony pretty much every club he’s been at. I’m happy with Levein and confident he will get the best out of this poor bunch of players.

Perhaps he could get the Celtic job :)
