Its been a stressfull night last one here in AD. Some news been flying in the last hour saying he's been found alright. I hope it is true.
Sheikh Ahmed is an absolute gentleman. I will remain gratefull to him and sheikh Mansour for sponsoring my studies.
I am supposed to be meeting Shiekh Ahmed in September and I never thought this would be interrupted by such an accident, so here is hoping, your Highness.

Teams from UAE, Spain and France have been sent to search the lake and the surrounding area but with no results :(
The lack of any news so far is frightening.

The truth is mate, if he went down with the glider (in flooded conditions) and wasn't found immediately in the near vacinity, then the chances are that he is still down there.

I'm sure all our thoughts go out to his family, and whilst there is still hope, I'm sure prayers are being said for his safe return.

I don't think the finest international search teams will strugle to find him in a mid size 80 meters deep artificial lake.
People are having desperate hopes of him being found and looked after by some kind stranger like in films, but that's unbeleivable.
I just hope they find the body at least.

MISSING MAN: The lake near Rabat into which Sheikh Ahmed's glider crashed

Difficult terrain is hampering the search for Sheikh Ahmed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who went missing in a glider crash in Morocco on Friday.

A team was dispatched from the UAE to assist in the search, according to a statement issued by state news agency WAM.

“The search and rescue team state that the operation by them and other international teams is ongoing. However, the nature of the terrain is making the survey and tracking effort especially challenging,” the statement said.

Al Nahyan’s glider crashed into a lake located near the Sidi Mohammed bin Abdullah Dam close to the town of Skhirat, about 35km south of the capital Rabat. The Spanish co-pilot was rescued and is in a stable condition, but search efforts for the Abu Dhabi royal are continuing. It is not yet known what caused the glider to crash.

Sheikh Ahmed is managing director the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), and a younger brother of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the ruler of Abu Dhabi and UAE president. In 2009, Forbes magazine listed Sheikh Ahmed as the 27th most powerful person in the world.

Another of Sheikh Ahmed’s brothers, Mansour bin Zayed al-Nahyan, is the owner of Manchester City Football Club.

ADIA, which is believed to have assets of up to $700 billion, is considered to be among the world’s biggest sovereign wealth funds. Earlier this year, Sheikh Ahmed said the fund sees “significant, long-term investment potential” in both Europe and the US despite the global downturn.

Between 35-50 percent of ADIA’s investments are typically in North America, and another 25-35 percent are in Europe.

Sheikh Ahmad is also chairman of the board of trustees of the Zayed Foundation for Charity and Humanitarian Works

Aren't you the master of understatements?!?!

My thoughts are with Sheik and his family. Rich or poor, these things feel just as bad.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

if there was a Sheik Glider Lake Wrecking video game then maybe you'd arouse his intellect.

i think his flippant comment is borderline disrespectful. But who am i to judge?

cheers

I can't believe someone would say "sucks for him" when its clear the guy has probably lost his life.

It beggars belief it really does.

Christ, I dont think I can compete in the "who can give the most heart warming message of best wishes" competition so i'll concur, it does indeed suck for him and I sincerely hope he is found safe and well, though it looks unlikely now i'm sure.

You could compete in the "who can give the least heart warming message of best wishes" with ease though I'd say.

Sucks for him? Disgraceful.
