The Kippax

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

The Kippax

Postby blootoof » Thu Apr 01, 2010 1:54 am

A race to be near the away supporters over the tunnel when the turnstiles open

As a kid goin mental when you could see the players down the tunnel before they came out

A pint or two on those concrete stairs at the back

The hardness of the pie crust, later called a weapon when sat on said stairs

Gettin cigs put out in your eye when City score(by accident obvo)

The old bill on their pig stages at the back off the stand

Standin in shit down the alley's on the way up/ home

The first time I had a shag I was in the Kippax two hours later against Arsenal. We won I think and my cock stunk.

The fourth world bogs we had

Pissed

Stoned

Anymore?

Walkind down to maine road and seeing all the city fans outside each pub on the way singing.

Being sneaked in the turnstiles by my dads mates.

Forget the name of it (kick the ball in the ring at half time)

The seagull hanging from the kippax

The green pitch at night with the lights on it.

Kippax as a kid:

Parking your bike in a grannies back yard before the match (that's not a euphemism)

Crawling under the turnstiles to get in without paying

Geeting searched by the dibble

The bogs with no roof on

The massive steps to walk up once your in

Buying chewing gum & bovril from the sellers next to the pitch

Climbing the columns to see your heroes

Climbing the security fencing to spit on the rags who had been found in the North Stand on derby days and were getting escorted to the away end

Whisling the Laurel & Hardy tune to the dibble as they walked passed

Nearly being decapitated by the barriers when the crowd surged after a goal

Walking all the way round the ground on the last day of the season to ensure we could invade the pitch

Collecting the coins after the game that the away fans had threw at us.

Throwing a cup of piss at the scum fans and dibble couldnt do anything.
Watching the police in between barriers getting their helmets knocked off with flying debris.
Going fucking mental at the scum fans.
getting my ribs smashed against the barriers when the crowd surged forward.
That fucking pylon in the way of your vision.
All the mods at the back of the Kippax..cool as fuck.

I miss the Kippax......it was the best feelng in the world being there.
THEY SAY SWEARING IS DUE TO A LIMITED VOCABULARY. I KNOW THOUSANDS OF WORDS, BUT I STILL PREFER "FUCK OFF" TO "GO AWAY"

Throwing my girlfriend (later to become my wife, and now my ex wife) over a wall to save her from being crushed by a stampede caused by rags throwing glass from the back.

I should have let her get crushed ;-o

Sitting on the wall.

Having the choice of moving down the other end at half time.

Watching Andy Hinchcliffe's run to meet Whitey's cross for the 5-1 goal.

Kids playing football down at the bottom of the stand when the game was less than interesting.

Finally being tall enough to see the game without getting piles sitting on the wall.

Banter - and being able to move away from any knobheads.

Not having to buy tickets. I don't miss the enormous queues though, or the turnstiles blokes running out of change.
Your right leg I like; I've got nothing against your right leg. The trouble is neither have you.

Getting so squashed that my feet stopped touching the floor, i was just being carried by the pure squeeze down the steps, shitting myself because I'd lost my dad in the crowd.
