Congratulations to David Salt and his family who have won the Etihad Airways ‘Coming Home’ promotion.
For the past 5 months, Etihad Airways, official club sponsor of Manchester City Football Club, has been offering fans the chance to fly from any Etihad destination in the world to the City of Manchester Stadium for one of the biggest games of the season – the Manchester derby on April 17th.
Over the past month, fans from all over the world have been voting for the best entry and we have received over 8000 votes in total! David Salt’s entry, from Toronto Canada, has come out on top with over 20% of the votes. David entered the competition back in November, in order to give his Dad Steve and younger brother Nik the chance to ‘Come Home’ to Manchester for the Manchester Derby.
The whole family are die-hard City fans; Steve left Manchester and moved to Canada in 1979 at the age of 24, and has lived there ever since. Steve will be enjoying the luxury service onboard with Etihad, as he and his son Nik fly to Manchester for three nights' accommodation, as well as VIP hospitality and executive seating for City vs United at the City of Manchester Stadium.
On hearing the news, Steve said "I am over the Blue Moon. I am very grateful to my son David for entering me and our Nik, and thanks to all those who voted to make this dream come true”
Steve, on behalf of Etihad Airways and Manchester City Football Club, congratulations and we look forward to bringing you home to the Derby on 17th April.

Yeah, good effort Dazby but just not quite there. May have been because it was put up late giving the others more time to register votes.
Unlucky mate but hopefully you'll make it across soon.

Steve Salt's probably a decent guy, but this makes me sad. No idea what their entry was like either but Dazby deserved this and I fear may have got his hopes up a bit too much in the end. Gutted he didn't win, just hope he can make it over for another derby day in the not too distant future.

If this Geezer won with 20% of the vote then it would have been a very close contest all round.
Bad news, Dazby. Let's hope you can get over to see City in the near future. I'll give you any help I can.

Me too, i'm wondering if they used the email address as a validation and only allowed 1 vote per email account

Perhaps we'll see another late decision a few days after the actual result.

Gutted and stunned and disappointed.
Well done to David. He was a facebook friend (I think he blocked me) and we used to have good chats during the campaign. He is a proper blue and a deserving winner.
I'd like to thank everyone who assisted with the campaign as a heck of a lot of work went into it. I can't think properly right now but I might do a proper post later.
