Nigel De Jong - manager dilemma

We are better defensively when Nigel plays.

We are much, much worse in attacking when Nigel plays.

Burnley were so poor that Vieira looked a class act again, as he has the ability to move play forwards. (He also scored).

Next we have to unlock Birmingham´s mean defence, but in attack they are pretty lousy in truth until Phillips comes on.

What does Bobby do?

I tell you what he should do - Leave de Jong on the bench!

Brum seem to have hit a bit of a bad patch in my eyes. They have looked a little tired in the last couple of games and I'm sure they haven't won a game since beating the Mighty Pompey. it will be a decent test for us, but I don't see why we can't keep Nigel on the bench and save him for the tougher games coming up. I'd much rather see a similar line up to what we had against Burnley and see the game out before bringing Nige on to close the game out.

Whatever happens, don't get yourself booked.

Agreed have been asking for this all season, he is only needed for 6 to 8 games all year and as backup

Isn't he just one card away from an automatic suspension?

if so, he'll have his ass glued to the bench and won't be playing until we play the scum.

cheers

play Vieira form the start, let us try and get ahead and then bring DeJong on to rest Vieira and solidfy us.

anyway i dont think Nige will start, because Bob wants him available for the toughest games and so he will rest him to prevent him picking up a card.

I am sure Mancini will do this. NDJ perfect for the scum game.

The front six looked fucking lethal against Burnley, they shouldn't be changed barring premature babies, rape allegations or a golfclub beating.

They'll be overrun by rags or Arsenal. Against the lesser teams it's worth the gamble but not against those two.

The most important fact in our favour is that Joe Hart won't play.

Maik Taylor is not a bad substitute.

True but Im sure Mancini recognises this. For those games he will drop Ade and bring in NDJ. Hopefully not against Brum/Villa/Spuds though.

That says it all mate.......I would rather leave him out period...Barry plays a shit game whenever NDJ plays and we only have a draw to look forward to..it bores the crap out of me...Im sure we can still defend well without making excuses to have him in the side.

All this "We" defend better when nige plays is bollocks.
The pressure is piled on us when he plays as we are too defensive. we ship goals to fuck. Don't get me wrong, de jong is an ace tackler, but he makes the team shit. both defensive and offensive.

He leaves de Jong out because I believe he is a liability when we have got the ball (which is kind of sad considering we paid so much for him bnut that's for another thread). For me he should only play in games where we are not going to dominate possession.

MOTM performances against Arsenal and Chelsea this season.

Don't forget we paid big money for Robinho. Remember him?

Seriously, he,s fucking crap for an attacking team like us.....it,s a fact that Barry plays shite when he,s paired with him.

How many MOTM performances in huge games can one Player continue to win? They were two defining moments this season.

De Jong is an International and was highly thought of at Hamburg. He doesn't lack ability - but City appear to lack the tactical know how to make him work within the Team. Buggered if I know how, either.

Vieira is not the answer for a long term Holding Midfield player. I don't think De Jong is at fault for indifferent Barry form. He's been up and down all season.
