Ted Hughes wrote:Henry has to be the best attacking player I've seen in the PL. Shearer the best out & out striker. The best midfielder was a toss up between Vieira & a name I can't bring myself to mention & the best goalkeeper belonged to the same team as him.

I was trying to think of the best defender & I think I'd have to go for Sol Campbell at his peak.

Can't really argue with theseif we are going o have to include those bastards. Although I'd say Adams, despite his donkey tag, was as brilliant centerback as I ever saw and in many ways better than Sol Campbell.

However this was about your favourite players rather than best. I sincerely hope you aren't mentioning he-whose-name-shall-not-be-mentioned (see everyone..... I'm down with the kids!!!) as your favourite midfielder!?!?!
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

'cough' (spits coffee on keyboard) Fucking No!!

Thinking about it, I don't remember ever feeling more animosity toward a player than him. If I'd been a City player playing against him I'd just get sent off every time!

Henry was probably my favourite player though as well as rating him the best tbh. I used to look forward to seeing him/Arsenal play if I knew they were on the box & shit myself when we had to play them.

I take your point about Adams, he was also a great after an iffy start to his career. Campbell's pace just gave him the slight edge for me.

My favourite is Matty Le Tissier, not by any means the best but for sheer audacity and brilliance, are there any better?

whole Carbone deal was brilliant madness by Bradford. The story goes that they were deep in the discussions with him about deal for 20k/w when story broke out that one of the big italian teams, can't remember which, were after him. So Bradford go and offer this feller, who epitomised mood player, 40k/w.

Temuri is a legend. That goal celebration where he goes berserk. Moment of pure beauty.

Duncan Ferguson - because I'm scared if I don't say him he'll twat the shit out of me!
Loved seeing that clip where Ince tried to go in hard on him and actually fouled him, but because Ferguson didn't flinch and threw Ince to the ground Ince actually got the free kick.

Elano for me.
Watching him try to disguise the fact that he's not a great athlete made me smile.
Berbatov wins golden boot, spends following season on the bench while his team loses title on goal difference. Well played, Fergie.

Can't believe Di Canio is getting so many mentions. Fascist little fuck. And hugely overrated mainly because of THAT goal.

He did deck a Referee, though.

Thing is, he didn't even deck the ref, just touched him and AlCOCK took a dive himself.

Anyone who thinks this knob cheese is their idol, needs their head checking though.

The time when he caught the ball when the everton keeper was injured was a moment of pure class though

Yes it was, BUT no one ever mentions time Fowler told ref it wasn't a penalty when he fell on his own feet and then when it was given, missed it in purpose. And he stood up for local dock workers rather than fucking Mussolini.
