Rumour has it aswell that Mancini is going to be at a game tomorrow night taking a "final" look at another potential signing.... the only problem is no one knows where in the world mancini will pop up tomorrow.

At the start of this season City created a "player acquisition group" at director level. Whoever is manager of City now only gets to recommend players to this group.

They have the final say on transfers though, it's an interesting concept not used widely in England but one which Mancini is very used to. Was probably another nail in Hughes' coffin as he would have hated not having full control.

Interesting that the player acquisition group were after Boateng for a while. They also want Leonardo Bonucci. Will be interesting to see what happens.

He's been quite good in Serie A this season, and not for a top team, but for a newly promoted one like Bari. He has struck a very efficient partnership as CB with Ranocchia there, and he's even got to the Italy national team, although I don't think he'll be on the plane for South Africa this summer.

But the question is, just how many CBs do we need? We already have Tourè, Kompany, Lescott, Onuoha, Boyata and Richards that can play there, plus Boateng if confirmed, rumours of Chiellini...add Bonucci to that and if we get both him and Chiellini we will be looking at 9 players that can play CB (although some will be mostly employed as FBs, like Richards and possibly Onuoha).

Marek Hamsik also mentioned at the bottom there, could be our central midfield solution.

No he's not, we've decided to only buy shit players. Yes we need him, we need to fill out the reserve ranks as it's our most realistic chance of a trophy.

I just did the dreaded and looked at a couple of his YT's

He does look rather good but then again so did....Corradi/Bianchi/Samaras/Robinho

Interestingly, I searched "Craig Bellamy" on YT when we signed him and he didn't really have any compilations of note....

Idiot, you should have searched for "bellamy 4 iron", his compilations are of a different sort though.

Good signing for sure if we get him, but I wouldn't put him under the pressure of resolving all our midfield problems. I'd pair him with another signing as a creative midfielder, to be honest. Unless, Ireland shows from here to the end of the season that he's going back to last season's form.

Fucking hell Slim he was only asking.

Not everyone has got a vast knowledge of European footy, why not just say yeah he's decent, got a good left foot, likes a tackle and looks cut out for the Prem?

Just a thought eh.

He is a very good player, excellent passing, good head on him and loves a shot.

Combine Ireland with Johnson's ability to run at and through defences and you should get the idea.

OMG, talking of left foots, did you hear reports we are going after Angel di Maria? Makes Petrov look positively ambidextrous.

p.s. It was a joke, settle down.

We bought RSC for £18m and hes not cutting it for our first team, hence why he played for the Reserves last night?

And if hes only young is he really gonna get into our defence at the moment?

WHAT? Did you watch the game on the weekend? I seem to recall RSC playing.

I can see him being part of the first choice pairing next season.

Was thinking the same. Mancini has been forced to play 4-4-2, as was Hughes, because the midfield wasn't good enough or too negative to play any other way & Ireland failed when given the chance to be the creative midfielder. Presumably, due to the success he's had with 4-4-2, Mancini will also want to use it quite often next season. Ireland so far sulks when asked to do that & if we sign an attacking midfielder for the other formations, when can Ireland play? He'll either have to adapt his game or go.

Not seen that much of Boateng or Hamsik but certainly their reps are good. Need to brush up on this kind of think so I can argue with you lot about it.
