He's a nasty, cheating, bad-tempered twat, but what a footballer! Almost got Arsenal at least a point all by himself tonight - that curling free kick bound for the top corner, that instinctive shot from a difficult position, wow. If he hadn't been out for so long Arsenal would have been real close to top spot. So to folk going on about City have nothing to fear at the Emirates next week, that may be true of their performance for 70 minutes tonight but once VP came on they looked a different side.
Watched the match in my usual pub in NYC with a mix of Spurs and Arse supporters. The Spuds are a lot friendlier, good banter with them and they have nothing bad to say about City, if Spurs don't get 4th they hope we do. Even though Tottenham have stuck it to City over the years - 1981, 6th Round of the Cup at Maine Road in whenever - I've far more time for them than the snooty Emirates lot. (On the other hand when it comes to bad taste comedy about managers they hate, their song about "Wenger and Madeleine McCann" rivals anything ever sung about plane crashes or stadium disasters.)
