the full album completed and scanned.
Quality!!
I tell you what....we didn't half have a good squad/team. Fucking Paul Parker and dead legs Shilton being the (dis)honourable exceptions.
How did Holland not do better with that team?? And spot the player in their team whose name EVERYONE knows but no-one probably imagined would be quite this famous? (assuming he is the right one that is!!)
I love the fact that the "tinpot" countries got 2 players per sticker! haha
Other observations....three home nations at the World Cup, this really did mark the end of the British dominated upper divisions in England. I miss the fact that you would discover random unheard of (and often brilliant) new players at the WC in the pre-ubiquitous media age, those exotic names who would then pop up in playground matches;.. Higuita, Roger Milla, Zubizareta, Scifo....ahh class
Lastly...I miss the old Eastern Bloc....the dodgy 'tasches, the serious, surly players and the bizarre fear of those mysterious communists....ahhhh nostalgia!!
