Team & Tactics v Arsenal

for me same team that started against the rags - mainly so they can try to 'make amends'
( imo it was Bob's changes that lost us focus eventually )

I could see Mancini putting Vieira in for AJ like Sat but i dont rekon he will.

As for Tactics. Arsenals weak point is central defence. So we could do a few things and still get away with it. ie. do our 'usual' and sit back to begin with leaving a gap between mid and front, if one of the front 3 get half a chance against Cambell or Silvestre they are in with a good shout. So we could hold tight and look for those chances.
The Gooners are not under much obligation to attack, but they also know their weakness is their defence, so it would be sensible for them to try and take the game to us. Will Wenger go for something other than 433 ? like the rags it is imperative they try to stop us scoring, cos if they go down they might start to wobble.
i think this is a tricky one for Arsenal, at home with a dodgy defence and obliged to go for it against a team that can be devastating on the counter. For once i think this is a game where we could hold it tight until we get a breakthrough.

.................Given

Ned.......Toure......Kompany.......Bridge

AJ........Ireland......Barry..........Bellemy

...........Ade..........Tevez

This game is perfect for Stevie, once he is played in his best position. Arsenal wont compact the midfield and stevie will have some space to operate and create. Also with stevie on the field, arsenal will be nervous about pushing on their full backs as they know their defence will be exposed quickly

if ireland is played in his best position ie roaming, with the wingers we have it will basically be barry against the 3 of arse centre midfield and thats not good.

Same team as derby for me except go for the jugular from the off.

if he didnt, then I would field the exact same team!

No he didn't, so I'm sure he'll play.

Ireland's not done anything to warrant a start. There's risk that he won't get in to the game due to his time on the sidelines. He's a shadow of himself from last season and he's heartbreaking.

Given

Ned Toure Kompany Bridge

A Johnson De Jong Barry Bellamy

Adebayor Tevez

It won't be much different from the above.

some news from Wengers press conference apparently..

“Maybe Song [could be off the injury list],” Wenger told TV Online on Thursday. “He has a test tomorrow and we’ll see. He is a question mark.“Apart from that, nobody is back. Andrey Arshavin is out. Everyone else - Gallas, Almunia, Denilson - is still out too.”Meanwhile Kieran Gibbs (foot) and Johan Djourou (knee) are approaching fitness after long-term injuries. However Wenger believes only the latter has a possibility of playing again this season.“Djourou has a little chance,” he said. “But Gibbs will be very short.”

Sounds like their second keeper gets the shout.. who Arse fans rate as highly as Hilarious as far as i can tell.

That's a very good attacking team, although I think Diaby will sit a bit deeper than Rosicky.

I have no doubt that we will have to score at least two, possibly three, to win this game.

it is a good attacking team you are absolutely right.

Arse fans take is more along the lines that Song and RVP are not fit. Diaby and Nasri are really out of form. Rosicky struggles to be effective and Sol C and Silvestre are not simply good enough to face Tevez, Ade and co.

On paper it looks good, the reality we will see tomorrow. My guess is that Song will have his work cut out trying to protect the CBs and will limit him going upfield. well see.

City have to exploit the two CBs though, especially Silvestre.

Sorry mate I think you´re bonkers. He´s been shite every time he stepped on the field and I can just see those Arsenal midfielders dancing around him, be like playing with 10 men. If it´s a game for anyone it´s Nigel De Jong. BTAJim has it spot on, except Micah might put in an appearance - one fullback lacking concentration for another!!

Probably just lazy journo's, if Tevez had been missing from training I am sure Doug would have been jumping up and down to point it out.

I think he should start the same team as the derby but as someone mentioned, go straight at them from the off.

SWP seems to play well against the Arse, so he could be a consideration for Johnson maybe.

Getting fucking nervous now....

I agree with this. Start with SWP from the off. I think he's ready to produce one of those gamewinning performances.

As much as I want Ireland to play, we need more steel in the center to start. Bring him on if we need to score or if we get a few goals up. ;)

Same team for me or Vieira for Johnson. I don't even care if we sit back, so long as we get men forward quickly on the break when we get the ball rather than being scared to commit, like we were last week.
