City to ask permission for Joe to come back [merged]

Manchester City will today ask the Premier League for special dispensation to bring Joe Hart back for the rest of the season.

FIFA and Premier League rules on temporary transfers would normally prevent the Blues from recalling Hart – who again starred for Birmingham against Aston Villa on Sunday.

But City are now without their top three keepers, after Shay Given dislocated his shoulder at Arsenal, and with Stuart Taylor recovering from a knee operation and Hart on loan.

The Blues may be able to ask permission to bring in an emergency goalkeeper on loan, a possibility in exceptional circumstances.

And they will argue that if they would be allowed to bring in a keeper from another club, it makes little sense to be prevented from recalling one of their own keepers from a loan.

They will make out a case that their situation is unprecedented but even if the league's board agrees, it would need a rubber-stamp from FIFA and the agreement of Birmingham and Hart himself to complete the recall.

Given is out for the season, and could even be missing at the start of next season as medical staff assess the extent of his injury.

That would mean Hart is almost certain to be recalled in the summer to be City number one.

But with current number two Stuart Taylor only resuming training this week after a knee operation, the Blues are left with just Faroe Islands international Gunnar Nielsen – with just 25 minutes of top-level experience – and rookie Columbian keeper David Gonzalez.

City's view is that the loss of their top three goalkeepers, two to injury and one on loan, constitutes an emergency.

But the league is likely to point out that Nielsen is a professional keeper, a Faroe Islands international, and played Conference football on loan at Wrexham last season.

He's our player, we are in a goalkeeping crisis, we should be allowed to recall him.

Simples.

as said in the article, it wouldn't make sense if we're allowed to get an emergency keeper to not be allowed to recall our own, and pass the problem onto brum - especially with McLeish's mouthing off lately

There's no way they'll let us bring someone in at this point, whether he's ours on loan or not. Have we ever succeeded in appealing for anything, ever?

there has to be a recall clause in Joe's loan agreement to allow this even to be considered.
From reading around, there is no such clause in the agreement, so the earliest he can come back is the end of the season.
The PL rules do say a loan can be considered in "exceptional circumstances", which are defined as having NO GK in the squad.
Hiding to nothing I'd say.

Anyone know what the precedents are, if any, for this kind of thing? If we can point to someone else getting similar treatment then it's likely we'll succeed but if not, there's very little chance they'll allow us to be the first.

And whoever is responsible for that should get a slap in the face.

when Steve Hunt stoved in Cech and Cudicini's heads, Chelski had Hilario and didnt add.

we brought in Budge a few years back, but that was during the window

Chester, however were allowed to loan a lad from Rochdale after they lost their "only senior keeper", Danby to injury.

depends whether they see Gunner as a "senior/professional footballer" or a kid.

Liverpool brought in Paul Jones on an emergency loan when both Dudek and Kirkland were injured. Houllier didn't trust their untried youngster (Patrice Luzi - who'd played about 20 minutes of football) with the first team spot.

I think this happened outside of the windows as it was a big deal at the time. Hopefully we strike lucky too.

SSN: City make formal request for emergency keeper loan

TBH if they allow us to do that, why cant we have joe back?

Who would take Jamo on a loan?

The important piece of info is that Gonsalez is also injuried (or so we say lol).

David James would be a good shout. Pompey would do anything to save a few quid and get a hire fee, no doubt.

However it may be that he will have faith in the Viking and just wants cover for him.

Time will tell!

Ideally it would be Hart but I think we need Birmingham's co-operation - put it this way if they dont play ball they can ...
a) Kiss goodbye to any hope of any help from us ever again
b) Make themselves a very powerful enemy which they really dont want to do

He´s very young mate, even though he looks like an experienced norse raider. I´m sure he´s realistic enough about the situation. Besides he´s probably over the moon at making his debut and already looking far better than all Arsenal´s keepers!

Hart is very young too!! Luckily he went to a modern, forward-thinking, progressive club at an early age!!! ;-)

Even if we stick with Gunnar, we have no one for the bench. We need another keeper for the last 3 games, if we can't get Hart which I doubt we will be able to, then we need someone who is willing to stay for 3 games, so that will only be a reserve goalie at best
