Vieira - I've let City down

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Vieira - I've let City down

Postby Vhero » Tue May 04, 2010 8:47 am

Patrick Vieira has confessed he feels he has let down the manager and owners of Manchester City.

The 33-year-old has struggled to show his best form at Eastlands since arriving in the January transfer window from Inter Milan.

The former Arsenal star enjoyed arguably his best game for the club in last weekend's win over Aston Villa and he is determined to help City overcome Tottenham in their fourth spot showdown on Wednesday and claim a place in next season's UEFA Champions League.

"I have not given what the people who brought me to the club expected. But it is never too late and Spurs is another big game," said Vieira.

Focus

"My focus is how I can help the club get fourth place because I have been really frustrated.

"I don't feel I have been doing what I am capable of and I have not been playing at my best.

"It has been difficult because when I came back to England to join Manchester City, I was injured and it needed a strong belief from the board and from the manager. It is a good time for me to show they have made the right decision."

Actually think his form has picked up in the last few games. He was brilliant against Villa, even cuntface Hansen singled him out for praise.

Nice to see a player holding his hand up. That said he was excellent against Villa and if Paddy does nothing else except get us through the next two games with 4th place secured then he will have been an great short term signing.

Havent found much to praise pat for until after the villa game! I feared for our chances when he was down to start but happy to eat my hat and congratulate him on a great display when we had the ball! Nice to see that hes realising that hes been shite - i think as long as we have dejong in the midfield to do his running and battling he did great - now him and Barry in midfield - NO NO!

Fair play to him for coming out and saying this. But to be fair to him his performances have picked up in recent games so i think we can expect the same for the last two games.

Recent game meaning villa. Have to admit he looked like a different player from what I saw. I actually saw him sprinting and thought it looked more like MIcah, but then I saw the number 24!

He has picked out the odd excellent pass for us. Its great to see his honestly, but by recent games we just mean villa because he was woeful before that at Arsenal.

Didn't he hit a wicked pass against Bolton at Home? It set up a Goal.

Pleased to hear he admits he's been dodgy. There's been the injuries, suspension and the Matches where he looks smacked off his tits.

He should be motivated to have a good display against Tottenham, anyhow.

yes it could. we could pound four past these cunts in the first half so that i can get to drinking and relaxing and fucking celebrating a nice victory instead of shitting my pantaloons for 94 minutes as per the usual routine.

cheers

Brave words from Paddy, I guess he feels he can be honest about it after a good game v Villa, so fair play to him. Balls on the line now though, he needs to have an even better game on Weds.

I've not been so nervous about a match in a looooooong time. God I hate Spurs.

Yes you have young man, and I'm disappointed in you. Give as good a performance against Tottenham as you did against Villa, then all will be right with our Worlds.

Yes he has, nuff said.

But he has a chance to put it right. In some games Vieira has been so far off the pace he's been playing in another fixture; putting back to back good games together at his age in the Prem might be a bit much to ask, but the pedigree of the guy is there so the game wont faze him. Over to you Patrick.

Good that he's come out and said this.

I have been a critic of his since he arrived but have seen glimpses of quality (such as the goal assist) but against Villa, I admitted to those around me I was wrong and he makes sense.
Seemed to be calm on the ball, have a good first touch.
I think he helped settle us, was there to take some pressure of other players by being a option to pass to or making some space.

Agree Vieira and de Jong worked well, although in the first 30 minutes I was criticising no creativity in the centre and relying too much on the wingers who weren't seeing enough of the ball.
Vieira and Barry don't seem to have hit it off yet as a midfield duo and not sure if they will be able to.
Vieira, de Jong and Barry - massive no no, way to defensive and seem to get in each others way.

Yes - Fulop coming for a corner in injury time when the scores nil nil and he puts it in the back of the net.

I would self combust with laughter.
