Surreal Visit to Manchester!!

Postby Surrey Sky Blue » Tue May 04, 2010 11:15 am

Me and a mate headed up for our annual weekend of a stay over, bit of hospitality and stay in a swanky hotel. This year we opted for the Lowry and what a stay we had!
After getting stuck in the motorbike go slow we arrived at the hotel at 12pm unpacked the car and headed towards the steps up to reception, while walking through the car park we notice two silver Mercedes parked up with the passenger doors open as we get closer a certain Khaldoon and Mr Cook leave the hotel not to miss a trick I made a bee line for them and was pleasantly surprised about how relaxed they both were (Khaldoon even more so!!) shaking hands and asking us if we were going to the match after much trying they were not that forthcoming with any juicy gossip re summer signing etc. after checking in we grab a cab and head off to the ground buzzing after meeting them, had a fantastic time with a few drinks a chat with Gary Owen, Kevin Kennedy and some lad from Emmerdale! the regular carvery and of course the win! After full time we decided to walk back in to town and arrived back at the hotel went upstairs got showered and changed and headed down to the bar for a quick drink. Decided to head out for dinner and went to grab a cab whilst waiting for the cab it became apparent that a charity day had be going on at the Swamp with a steady stream of celbs arriving at the hotel we decided to have another drink in the bar and see what happened. After about half an hour nothing much happened apart from a couple of z listers who you would recognise but not name!! so we headed out to now get a cab whilst walking down the stairs to reception I noticed a few people mingling with a certain suave looking Italian gent... Mr Mancini was uber cool, happy to chat and shake hands and to be quick to tell me not to read to much in to the "English Papers!". I apologised for taking to much of his time to which he said no problem and hoped I had enjoyed the game as I turned to leave i noticed that I had actually hijacked a conversation he was having with Japp Stamm! Left the hotel absolutely buzzing and drank a Stella in Cafe Rouge if about 20 seconds!! Had a bite to eat in Strada and found a bar round the corner with a live band on a south American vibe drank a few Mojitos and got steadily pissed! Headed upstairs for a slash where i found a massive restaraunt which was packed!! Headed off to the loo and started the obvious looking to my left a blonde lad, went and washed my hands at the same time as him thinking he looks familiar the penny then dropped and it was Kasper Schmeichel. Overall a pretty surreal evening and day which was unfortunately spoilt by meeting Graham Poll in the car park of the hotel in the morning!!

Sounded like a great day there Blue, meeting up with so many and getting to have a decent chat. One thing does concern me though, why were you looking round in the Gent's Toilets?
