my try at a fair analysis.

we were so close to the promised land we could taste it and we've had our best season in my 28 years but calling a spade a spade we just aren't good enough. Spuds beat us twice this season and deserved both games. they'll finish with more points than us over 38 games and they deserve 4th and we don't... simple as (even if it hurts.)

It hurts all the more that it was Spurs and not Liverpool, with one of the big 4 having such a poor season it SHOULD have being us. man for man we should out do Spurs but we didn't. The blame doesn't lie with Hughes or Mancini, but with Hughes, Mancini and everyone else involved in the club this season, they've all combined to fail (albeit only by the narrowest of margins).

We shouldn't over react, we should take it on the chin, let the Andy Grays and twitchy cunts have their day, safe in the knowledge, they haven't stopped, only delayed the inevitable. We'll weed out the weak and strengthen again and we'll push onwards and upwards next season.

We're like a snowball rolling down a moutain and we've hit a couple more trees than we'd like to, we're not as big as we'd like to be at current time but regardless we're still gonna end up as a mighty fuckin avalanche and while people can delay us, they cannot and will not stop us. Our day will come.

Good try mate and very sensible. The future will be bright and we have a lot to look forward to next season.

so we've had a few bad games, shit doesn't finish above liverpool (slightly above shit does). Shit doesn't beat Chelsea and Arsenal. We've being through alot of changes both required and unrequired over the last 3 years, we haven't settled to be consistantly good enough yet and we may not next season but we're coming.

spot on mate, tonight we deserved what we got and spuds deserved 4th.

sucks as chumps league would've been amazing but its only a delay to us, not the end of the world.

next year we'll back and we'll be stronger!

A fair analysis of tonight is that we were beaten by a better team.

And its fucking devestating

Good effort for analysis. I couldn't be sensible right now but if I could, I think I'd agree with you.

I thought we were the better team in the first half. In the second we lost our way a bit and didn't keep posession well enough. Nor did we use it well enough.

How does shit defend against crouch?
How does shit get on against Burnley at home?
How does shit get on against Hull at home?
How does hot ge on against relagated wank team... oh no see above.

Maybe I'm just fucked off at failing yet againt at the last hurdle. I just wish our club and players felt the same pain.

Im really not too bothered , i was hurting more when we lost the derby in the last minutes and when we lost to in the semi final.

Im with you it is inevitable and hopefully the board (Gary cook & khaldoon) have learnt all the pitfalls from there first season and explode next season. I really do think if we strengthen in the summer we will be chasing the league title next year. And champions league football will be guranteed.

Kinda like this season we have been concentrating so hard on getting in the top four we have finished the highest we have ever finished and we are in the europa league. Just shows how far we have come.

Next season the aim will be the title! so we will be concentrating so much on that , that we automatically finish in the champs league.

Tonight we were outplayed and out thought by Twitchy. The way they waited and waited and than tore us apart last 20 minutes when we tired and I think had it planned all game. Truth be told for all our huffing and puffing they had far more good chances than us even in the 1st half.

we will finish at least 3rd next season with the right signings...

this is only 2 years into our development and we've pushed on quite a bit considering we're city for crying out loud

fully agree.
We went out like maniacs and completely forgot the patience. Tired ourselves out and in the end it was like taking lollipop from a kid.

To be fair we have come a long way and to achieve Champions League in the first season of rebuilding is nothing to be sniffed at.
Considering where we were two years ago.
We can argue the toss, Mancini or Hughes, all we like but the fact is Hughes defence was every team's favourite Santa Claus, even if, for the most part, we scored more than they did.
Whereas Mancini has worked miracles patching up damaged reputations.
Albeit with, for the most part, a decidedly less adventurous style of football.

I think Mancini should be gven another season, although, hopefully, we won't spread around 'funny money' on players whose only loyalty is to their inflated pay-packets.

As I said here a couple of weeks ago we should look hard at hungry, relatively unproven, potential superstars in the Bundesliga, et al. rather tha risk more Robinhos.

Yep - too gung - ho and we paid for it - I almost wanted to advocate a 4-5-1 in this game with Vieira but felt that I would get slaughtered for it - we needed to be patient tonight but sometimes people get carried away and demand full on siege of the oppositions goal. We´re not quite good enough for that yet. With our nemesis King crock wheeled out once again I knew they´d be difficult to break down ,but with a slower tempo Vieira might have just picked a pass as the game wore on.
Fuclin Spuds !

My emotions are like a roller coaster at the moment-gutted,pissed off,annoyed,sad- but I just keep tellin myself that once this this season is over we can let Mancini build his own team.We can clear out the time wasters and bring in top players .Yeah, there will be some that will be crossed off the shoppin list, but Im sure we will still be able to bring in class as we have shown how much we have progressed..

There have been a few weak areas in our side ,this season, and Im positive that we will be twice the side once these areas have been strenghened .I cant wait for the window to open..

Spot on grob. Harsh truth but thats what it is. The game was fairly even for 60 minutes but then in the final 30, when you'd expect us as the home team needing to win to push on, we got weaker and Spurs got stronger and we didnt muster a shot.

Our midfield needs a box to box player instead of two defensive role players. Up front, once again and far too often in the last 6 weeks, our front players contributed next to nothing. Tevez, Adebayor, Johnson, Bellamy, SWP and Santa Snooze collectively in the time they were on the pitch didnt work the Spurs back 4 nearly enough, end of.

False dawn number 223 is over, and after 3 injury time defeats to United, a semi-final loss and again another big game where we fluff our lines I'm starting to wonder if its ever going to turn our way. I'm only 39 and been going for 33 years so maybe I'm asking too much?

Heard a lot of fans on the radio leaning on the analysis that our side has just been thrown together and it takes time. Well AFTER our takeoever, Shitknapp took over a Spurs team bottom of the shop on 2 points and has since taken them to a Cup final, and FA Cup semi-final and got them in 4th spot ahead of us building a team in quicker time than we had.

Bottom line is we need some players who are going to man up and win one of these bug games for us, United (3 flops), Hamburg (flop), and once again tonight another epic kick in the nuts for us to absorb. Its high time we took a step forward and won a game we HAVE to win, instead of hiding behind excuses of "its a new team" or "look where we were 11 years ago" - we should never have been in that league in the first place, so to cite a season in the third tier as a constant measure of how much we've improved simply limits our ambitions as a club.

I'm off for some alcohol, lots of it and definately need a break from the consistent build up and then let down City put us through.

I feel that completely and utterly.

But surely, after all the epic kicks in teh nuts we've had to endure, this kick feels like it mihg tbe one of the last? The future's not looking half bad, and how much sweeter will the pleasure be after all this pain? I was born in 77 and feel like I've jinxed us, but I do believe finally that we're on track to achieve great things. Despite nearly puking up my own pelvis in despair tonight.

Chin up folks.

Simply have to agree with everything you say although a lot of the key players at Spuds were already there
