POLL: 5th Place

Postby MaineRoadMemories » Wed May 05, 2010 10:10 pm

So 5th place it is then :-(

Now looking at the cold hard facts I should be delighted with 5th its an excellent achievement and being in the Europa will be great experience for the club for the future (as long as it doesn't distract too much from the league with 20 games).

But why do I feel like fifth is a failure and emotionally I can't really be arsed with celebrating a fifth place finish even though I know I shoud do.

So are you happy?

I predicted we'd finish 5th, but I'm still not happy. We've been cock teased all year and now she's (CL) left the building.

Yes. We've been challenging and got close enough for me to believe we'll be in the top three next year. I think most people would have taken 5th at the start of the season.

Trying to stay positive and think Tevez and Bellamy will do West Ham for the 3 points. :-)

It feels like a failure because we have been fed the bullshit that we should have a divine right to play champions league football because we spent so much money. Im glad we didnt get fourth spot in a strange kinda way to show these knobs that money dont buy you success! How obvious can it be after tonight?

Im so happy seeing my team so close to the top of the league when im usually seeing how close they are from the bottom!

Keep the core of this team together and add some quality in the summer, new set of full backs a creative mid and a striker will do for me. And we will be fighting for the league title next year.

I have been saying to friends that city need these games to push them further the next time its crunch time. In 25 years i have never seen city have real big games where its for a trophy or europe. We need this pain and experience to take with us into next season.

I love you city where ever you play.

Whether it be 5th or 6th i'm not happy one iota. The game was there for the taking yet we let Spurs do us at home yet again. Typical City will be with us for some time longer.

I'm on record from the pre-season on here saying I'd be absolutely delighted with anything higher than 6th and that still stands. It's a foundation for future success and represents real progress.

I think if we'd been offered 5th before the start of the season we'd probably of taken it but it's once again the circumstances of how it's happened that makes it so hard to swallow. Losing at home to the Rags, Everton and Spurs again in space of a month is an absolute killer - it was in our hands and we completely bottled it hands down!

Fuckt off as next year it will be even harder. Spurs will spend, Everton surely can't be so slow out of the traps again, Pool surely can't be a bag of wank again. I see this as an opportunity lost......all the last mintues goals and shitty draws have really really come back to haunt us!! I hate you City!!!
