upset and in some ways i feel a bit let down by our team tonight. I feel that they could have wanted it more and put more into their overall performance. But i have not started this thread to talk about the negatives! The season isnt over yet and we still need to make sure we finish fith and put in a performance against west ham! But after that game it is important that we move on from this season and a fresh start next season. We need to bring in a few players to strengthen some off the positions, we need too keep the same manager as it is not healthy for any club too be changing their manager every 6 months. And make sure we keep hold off our best players which i am sure we will do.next season we are back in europe and we have too think about the positives and i am confident that next season we can kick on and not just get that champions league place but also compete for the title.

No we have not finished fifth Villa can still overtake us if we lose and they win.

So your telling me that sunday is meaningless? We are 2 points in front off villa and therefore that means that we still have something to play for. The job is not finished yet! Villa have blackburn at home and we have west ham. The job is far from finished yet!

Well said Lewis. We've got so much to luck forward to. Now's the time to keep calm and build on what we've got for next season.

We lost our cup final tonight, even with home advantage. The team is not good enough to even manage 4th place. Major changes are needed. Especially in defence. Rabbits caught in headlights springs to mind.

5th equals our best finish I've seen in my time. It's a happy day when we get back to there.

not change manager..ok but if it is at all possible to get Mourinho in..do it no matter what and then never change.Im sure Inter will win champs league final and then he'll stick two fingers up to Italian football media and be looking for a new job.no matter what if we can get him then the whole mentality of our club would change and dark days will be over for good

Fish,
Tonight we lost the game that finally ended our chances of 4th...that's all.
In previous seasons our chances of finishing 4th were usually over after the 1st few weeks of the season.
Can you actually remember whenwe had any games towards the end of any season that were meaningfull. Other than those seasons we were in a relegation dogfight?
We will pprobably finish 5th, we have actually won a place in Europe on merit rather than being good boys, for the 1st time since 197...wheneveritwas.
We fought to the 2nd last game of the season before we fell short, and we were not that far off being successful.
When the wallpaper needs patching...you don't demolish the house.

Can't blame the defence for tonight mate. We were outplayed and if it wasn't for our defence we would've been slaughtered. It's our pedestrian midfield that is the problem. Soooo sad that when Barry got injured our only option was a 93-yeard-old ex-legend with a fake passport. We desperately need a midfielder that can supply our attack.

Could that man have been Vinnie? I know he has played well at centre back but we have replacements there ( Ned and Micah) but not a lot in the midfield area.

A wee bit of pruning is needed,Adabayor,Bridge to begin with,we must keep Mancini and let him sign the players 'he wants'.....5th is no disgrace but the unreal expectation of some fans both on and off here needs to be curtailled, patience is the key.

For me there still is alot to play for.....5th is a fantastic achievement and most on here said they would be very happy if we got that high up the table.
Im ecstatic we have progressed so quickly and in europa on merit ;-)
At the end of the day Mancini needs his own squad to build..The foundations are in place for a top 4 side...I would think his 1st signing would be a box to box attacking MF next season.
