Europa League - Season ticket idea

Reading Salford City's post that Europa league IS included in the automatic cup scheme made me wonder if Gary and his ticketing manager haven't missed a trick here.

Why not make all Europa League home games (not if we progress further) ALREADY INCLUDED in a season ticket? As WAFFA attendances are notoriously poor at all clubs in the early rounds, and the financial return varies from a loss to negligible, this would seem a great way of boosting our atmosphere and attendance. Sure some still wouldn't/couldn't, but I bet it would have made a fair old difference.

Anyone agree?

Mr Cook?

So you're suggesting that instead of getting some money in (even if it does result in a net loss) that they should have opted to guarantee getting no money at all? I wonder why they didn't think of that eh?

Is our priority to get in 60 grand on a match that costa 80 to put on? Or to progress and make more money in the 2nd half, for which atmosphere will help? It might also save all those ridiculous threads about our attendances after every euro match!

Plus I think you'll find a lot of casual attenders go to these games, as ST holders cant be arsed.

Plus they do love us fans you know!

What have OUR priorities got to do with the way that Cook runs the club?

I think that in any case they are expecting to be be able to fill the ground due to exciting football and new signings, maybe they're even right

Maybe they could set a loyalty point value for this idea to control the potential loss a bit - they could use it for this season to see if it helped the crowds

The European gates 2 seasons ago were disappointing and they were heavily debated on here - but I can see the argument on both sides. Personally, I'd stick with the present situation and continue with an optional Seasoncard seat guarentee for Cup Matches. Imagine how laughable it would be if Seasoncard Holders still didn't turn up despite getting free entry.

I know the Hamburg Match was one of the most important in years yet one could argue it only sold out in record time because it was £5 a ticket. A Family of 4 could attend for £12.

I agree, it might be and idea to increase the points by 50 for each game attended, with a further bonus of 500 for attending every home game in the comp.

I'd introduce a disloyalty scheme whereby you get 50 points taken off for every game you miss: No excuses excepted ;-)

The North stand will be pretty much empty for those games but maybe shoving all the grown ups out of there will mean the rest of the ground does ok. It will be interesting to see how the club view these games this time around and what ticketing schemes they put in place

hamburg was only a fiver a ticket because hamburg asked for 6 thousand tickets and gary cook said no cos he thought it would give them an advantage! so when they questioned our average attendance in the uefa cup he came up with the "deal" that we were offering supporters! so thanks should be with hamburg supporters!

Everything up to the last 32 should be on a cut price deal. 10 for adults 5 for kids or something like that. Make sure the top tiers are closed to give the impression that the stadium is packed.

The empty stadiums for our UEFA cup run gave the media a stick to hit us with and it could have easily been avioded.

It amused me how excited everyone was for the away games and how we couldnt get enough tickets but for the home games we could barely get over half full.

That sounds like a very wise idea. I think they did shut the 3rd Tiers for a Match or two. It's like seeing the only people in a Restaurant are sat by the front window!

it's pretty much a gaurantee that during the early rounds atleast they will be doing deals to fill the ground kid for a quid, flag days and whatever other nonsence then later on they will be charging us £50 a ticket just like the carling cup.

You are right mate, they have no choice but to heavily discount early doors, as ALL other clubs did this season afaik.

I know people will criticse for this, but I have more important things in my life than spending good money on watching city play a team of part time farmers from the Faroe Isles or Cyprus. If it is a tenner, or for that matter free, I still wouldn't go. The side doesnt "need" my support to beat teams like that - if they claim they do, they shouldnt be professional footballers.

City is a part of my life, not all of my life, and I have better things to do with my time and money than watching a pub team - as that is not entertainment. That will always be the curse of the Europa league
