They may have deserved it, but it just seemed strange that it was so hush-hush, hidden against the Triesman story.

France hosted a great world cup in 98 and I'd much rather go there (not that I will get the option) than Turkey for a football tournament.
I note that they have increased the number of teams to 24 for that tournament. Whats the point of having qualifiers with so many teams? What it means is there are a limited number of countries with the stadiums and infustructre to now cope hosting a Euro Championship
The farce with the joint bid of Poland and Ukraine will ensure that there are no longer joint bid winner. The chances of football loving countries like Sweden/Norway. Scotland/Wales or even Holland/Belguim which was a great tournament getting together and hosting the show are over. The rich will continue to get richer.

Wouldn't you think that having 24 teams is actually a good thing for you, Scotland might actually qualify.

I think the total opposite. With 24 teams, joint bids are far more likely to succeed. With 16 teams, in a joint bid around 50 nations were vying for just 13 places. Now 2 automatic entries for host nations won't be such a hefty part of the total quota. You've also got to remember that by 2016 several more countries will have joined the EU, making travel and visas between nations less of an issue. I think Croatia and Hungary are eyeing up a joint bid for 2020, plus a few others.

Who do you represent if you come from the Isle of Man?

i don't understand the question but they won't even try and become a national team despite the fact they have a bigger 'stadium' than estonia and leichtinstein and seemingly meet a lot of the requirements. the people over there all want it to happen but whenever anyone tries it gets shut down straight away. they played man city in 94. city won 4-0.

My understanding is that if your from the Isle of Man you have a UK passport so who do you play for at International level since the Isle of Man dont have a national team.
