Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!
by john@staustell » Wed Jun 02, 2010 3:38 pm
Now that he seems to be moving from rumour to reality, maybe he should move out of the sticky and have his own thread so we can discuss his merits, or run him down before he's kicked a ball, as the case may be! Stories flooding the media include MUEN:
Germany defender Jerome Boateng has confirmed he will sign for Manchester City before departing for the World Cup in South Africa.
A £10.46million (12.5million euro) move has appeared on the cards for several weeks now, and the 21-year-old told Bild magazine it will be wrapped up in the coming days.
"I am going to sign on (for City) before leaving for the World Cup and the deal will be completed," he said.
"It has been decided that I am moving there."
Boateng confirmed City manager Roberto Mancini had visited him in Hamburg and talked him into the move.
"He came with two representatives to Hamburg and we chatted for one or two hours," said Boateng.
"He convinced me to make the transfer. He believes that I will definitely need a few months to get settled in once in England, but that he sees so much potential in me that he will improve me.
"Even if many people say that I am going to struggle to make the breakthrough, I am confident that I will.
"I am not afraid of anybody."
Boateng is keen to leave Germany, where he says his family is being hounded by the media after his half-brother Kevin-Prince's foul on Michael Ballack in the FA Cup final ruled the Germany captain out of the World Cup.
Jerome could come up against his sibling in Germany's final group game against Ghana since Kevin-Prince recently switched allegiances, which was permissible due to a parental link with the African nation

Has this actually been confirmed? No.
Here's my main player JB making it rain in Da Club.

Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Nice to see Mancini doing some legwork instead of leaving it to Marwood and the finance chappie. Wonder if he's gonna sign his players before he takes any holiday?
Maybe he isn't going to take one as he had 6 months off before coming to City? He should. Everyone needs to recharge batteries.

What is his natural position. Saw him playing for Germany a few days ago at Right Back.

Throw this in for good measure..
Think the club want to announce this signing along with one or two more that's why we haven't had an official word.

God I love those Germans!! Well I was born in Bitburg, so I am a little biased.
But seriously, think he will be a good player for us. He can play a number of positions,
but I think Mancini might be looking to replace Richards. What do y'all think??

Maybe. But I think we are short on numbers. When we get the likes of Boyata playing against Scum - and no disrespect to the lad at all but he aint there yet - then we are short of numbers. And with the WAFFA League to play..............................
Not necessarily 1 in 1 out.

Micah is also home grown so it would be unwise with the new rules to sell any home grown players imo.

yeah, besides I think Ned will be out before summer is over so there's one place to fill.
I have a feeling we'll see similar multipurpose player on the left as well.

You mentioned you had watched a lot of the Bundesliga this season (at least I think it was you) - did you get to see Holger Badstuber playing left back for Bayern? He sounds like a left sided Boateng. His first season as a senior and he started pretty much every game for them, did enough to get a new contract in February, and also to get called up to the World Cup squad. I hear he can fill in on the left of midfield too at a pinch.
