I've tried with 2 different Credit Cards - both of which I know are "good" - and both have been declined.
Has anyone managed it successfully?

Exactly the same as you mate, failed twice. Then I rang them and got it done in seconds with a bloody £2 booking fee for doing it over the phone, someone is taking the piss.

Sounds about right they should wave the fee if you mention the problem if they don't then thats a joke..

I tried, then realised my bum-fluff needed trimming.
I'll pay cash tomorrow.

I couldn't book tickets Online last season. There must be a problem at their end. You'd think that something so important would work perfectly.

Me too.
I've pretty much given up trying to do anything about tickets online any more.

I gave it 1 more go online last night, same result card failed. Called the Ticketline straight away, did it by phone with the same card that was declined minutes earlier and surprise surprise it authorised.
How can we have such an unstable online system?
What happens to people who are out of the country at the moment who would want the convenience of doing it online rather than calling from abroad?
A really, really poor system which leaves me baffled.
Are we in for another season of shit online ticketing? I reckon so.

Same here. You can book Tickets for anything Online now so getting something like this right should be a priority.
I often don't like to deal with someone on the phone because they sound bored, stupid or a combination of the two.

Did mine on Sunday, no problems. have confirmation email and everything.
Would recommend you contact the card issuers. Good luck.

I've been trying all week with no luck. On Tuesday it wouldn't accept my password, and when I tried the lost password thing it wouldn't accept my email address and date of birth. I then phoned customer services who said there were a lot of strange things going on with the site and said they would do it over the phone without a booking fee. Unfortunately my bank decided to do their anti fraud thing and declined the transaction (the last time they did it was when I was in La Guardia airport in New York trying to withdraw 40 dollars to get a taxi to JFK for a flight to London, good job I wasn't alone.). Anyhow. I tried again Wednesday and logged in, but then firefox decided that MCFC was a dodgy site with an invalid certificate. I had to overide that, and still it wouldn't work. Tried again today and got right through the process, then it said it hadn't gone through. Didn't say why. Got back on the phone to ticket office, who wouldn't do it without fee, but said customer sevices would, then attempted to transfer me. After sitting on phone for 15 minutes waiting for customer services, I gave up. Then thought I'd have one last go online and it went straight through. And I've got the confirmation email. Not impressed

If its asking you for the 'end date' on your card AND issue number, only enter the issue. Took me a while to realise but when you buy something over the phone, they only ever ask you for the start date and issue if there is one, if not, start date and end date.

I think they should shut the site for a week for 'essential maintenance' (again).
Or maybe get a new head of IT?

I think that depends on the card brand. i.e. Visa, Mastercard, Switch etc. I usually get asked for the expiry date and last 3 digits on the reverse.
