I honestly don't get it. What is the point you're making? England's [makeshift] defence were solid again tonight for the third game running. We needed a tweak up front, made it, and were a threat going forward all game. We'll have to up our game againt Germany, but then so will they to compete with us.

You'll have to explain the point/moral of/reason for this thread to me.

Because the dive was comedy genius, soon as i saw terry do this watching the game the superman theme tune came on in my head. Dont take it so seriously :P

willing to take a shot at point blank range to the face, cant ask for much more! If we do win the world cup it will be because of commitment like that not in spite of it, which is why i dont understand this thread?

Fair enough. Just didn't quite match the title of the thread ("we're hoplessly shit") to the video ("we're solid and committed"). Don't care for Terry as a bloke but he's an impressive player. Seems like the guy can organise any combo of defenders and will always lead by example. Still the captain really, just doesn't wear the armband.

I thought the answer was going to be because you're british and it's not being played at wemberly ... or that your keeper and 1/2 your center D are from a team that barely scrapped by getting relegated.

Honestly though, at this point it is anyone's game to win. Any given sunday and all that ... England pose as big a threat as any of the other big names. It only takes one of your stars to actually remember how to play for a minute and it could be a game winning moment of genius. USA lacks that ... so we have to rely on team effort for 90 minutes, which takes it's toll.

I still have Holland v. Argentina in the finals, but I think you'll upset the krauts, lose to the argies.

Very little is being made of this as everyone is on such a high, I was pretty disappointed after the game. I felt we should have burried them 3/4-0 and made our path in the rest of the tournament i little easier.

We've played 3 games and the only goal scored against us was Green dropping a bollock. We were very close to scoring more against Slovenia so things are going in the right direction.

The Germany team are young, they may have injury issues and have wobbled a bit themselves since the opening game.

The glass is half full. Mind you, what are the odds for England 0 - 1 Germany (Heskey 89 og)??

The weight of expectation on englands shoulders almost kills us off before any world cup I can remember starts
