v

Venue: Bloemfontein
Date: Sunday, 27 June 2010
Kick-off: 15:00[/center]
TEAM NEWSEngland coach Fabio Capello has to decide whether to stick with Matthew Upson at centre-back or restore Ledley King or Jamie Carragher to the starting XI.
King is now fit after a groin injury and Carragher is back from suspension. Wayne Rooney has recovered from the ankle knock he sustained against Slovenia.
Germany striker Cacau has been ruled out with a stomach muscle injury so Miroslav Klose, who is available again after suspension, will come back into the side.
Coach Joachim Loew has concerns over key midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger following the hamstring strain he picked up against Ghana. Jerome Boateng is troubled by a calf strain and could be replaced by Holger Badstuber or Marcell Jansen.

Seen a lot of Boateng through the Europa League but looking forward to watching him at this level. Surprised he's kept out Badstuber when he's not a natural left back.
Edit: Or he is out right and Lahm left? Didn't see them against Ghana. Find out in a minute anyway.

He played left back the other night & apart from a couple of moments, did well. Great 1st touch etc. If he was playing left back for England however, I'd be almost as worried as I am about Upson playing centre half.....

Upson was decent against the might of Slovenia but I'd be bricking it too. Game on.

great work by klose ... facilitated by terry doing his best to emulate the USA defense ... upson actually closed a lot of ground there, but in the end tripped over his own labia

Klose's not even quick but Upson's so slow his only option was to try & foul him.

Can Rooney play in this side or what? He fails to do even the most basic of tasks in an England shirt.

upson was the least at fault of the 3, james should of come when the ball beat terry and terry should of being awake. Upson did ok but Klose is strong and had to shake off.

Micah Richards would have had time to make a brew & still catch him.

before Micah runs over him gives away a peno and gets a red card. Not too mention the fact he wouldn't have covered for Terry and would of just stood there pointing at the space and hoping someone else would do it for him.

Too many long hopeful balls giving away posession. Rooney needs to work out what he's doing.
And the defence need to get to the ball and stop looking at it.

Well played to Germany, they're having the guts to play football & the England players are bottling it. Surely Capello has to do something to earn his money rather than just leave it as it is?
