Yaya Toure: Barca Is The Club of My Life??

"Yaya Toure: "Barcelona Is The Club Of My Life"

http://foreign.peacefmonline.com/sports ... /54864.php

I am not the type of person to judge the a pro athlete's motivation
from transferring from one club to another. Football is big business
all over the globe and the athletes produce the product; but
I really find this type of banter hypocritical and offensive.

Quoting Mr. Toure:

"I don't feel that I am a person who leaves Camp Nou. I am convinced that
some day I will return. My heart is in Barca and some day I will wear this shirt again.
I am quite sure. Barca is the club of my life."

Now Toure can point to his agent and say he was just doing his job. But, if
your going to sign for £221,000 a week, and say you're soul
will always be with the club that just used your transfer fee to buy another player....
then I see no other reason to see you Yaya as high priced beef.

Great players inspire there teammates with their play on the field, and I would like
to think forget about their wallets, sometimes.

Since we've been bought by the Sheiks, we have made some good moves AND some
bad moves. And a lot of the players on our squad (Shauny, Micah, A. Johnson) seem
GENUINELY happy to be on it. But I have to wonder if Barry, Lescott and Santa Cruz,
look at themselves in the mirror and feel the same way as Yaya.

But, Mr. Toure, don't piss in my pocket and tell me it's raining!

He's just saying what the Barca fans want to hear...they loved him...and no doubt he had a lot of love for them

I don't hold it against him in the slightest

I was waiting until one of you took the bait dangled by some cockhead journo and posted this.

If one of my favourite players left City this is exactly what I would want and love to hear. I wouldn't really give two hoots how genuine it was. If he'd gone on to better things and a better contract I would expect this kind of platitude from him as standard.

The mealy mouthed bitter comments from Richard Dunne and the petulance from Petrov are exactly the kind of things that turn me (further) off outgoing City players.

Even Elano kept a pretty dignified silence which is the other acceptable alternative

Doesn't bother me in the slightest. Very popular player with the Barca fans.

Wayne Rooney is an Everton supporter. Gary Lineker supports Leicester.

Same.

Barca fans were genuinely gutted when he left, this is all a move on his part to try and be kind to fans who genuinely have treated him extremely well.

We have him for 5 years now, if he wants to go back after that time fair enough.

The guy is an absolute pro though, i have no worries about his head not being here. He will be outstanding for us no doubt!

I'm sure he would rather still be at Barca rather than at City ..... who would blame him?

You know, sometimes you just have to accept that not everyone ran barefoot through the streets as youngsters, one day dreaming they would be playing for Man City.

However, that doesn't mean he won't put in a shift for us ...... if only to show Barca what they let go.

Nothing to worry about - all players say similar things.

Tevez said he'd like to one day return to West Ham. But I along with 98% of other blues love the guy. No need to worry, Yaya will shine in a blue shirt. I'm certain of it.

As a PR statement to your new club, its right up there with Andreas Isaksson's famous "This is a stepping stone move for me to get to a really big club" classic when he trolled up at City. Where is he now by the way, Helsingborgs perhaps or some other european titan like Tromso?

Lets hope Ya Ya fair's better. If he does the business on the pitch I dont give a $hit if he left his heart in San Francisco, or on Las Ramblas; however its hardly the sort of stuff you want to hear when you've just paid £24m for the guy and given him a big fat contract too.

If a City player left the club and said that, I'd be well pleased.

I'm 'daft' enough to believe a few things, as follows:

1. It'd have taken a fairly hefty wages hike to persuade him to move away from the best club side on the continent
2. As above, to persuade him to move from beautiful Spain to Northern England (no offence intended)
3. As above, to persuade him to move from year in, year out CL participation, to possibly/maybe
4. I also imagine that he may have wanted the tag of best paid player in the Prem.

I've also now seen those wages referred to on here, in a Sunday paper and elsewhere on the web. So, if its not true, nobody's that bothered its being repeatedly reported...

I hope its not true, but only because its such an eye-wateringly large amount.

it isn't true but he's on 160K apparently - still hefty by anyones standards

all the reasons you listed are good ones and why he's on such a wage

He's at PSV. We might see them in the Europa League at some point next season.

Good keeper.

Yaya hasnt said anything wrong per se but its not great to hear your new boy gushing over his former club I agree. Gush over your new one please Yaya

And you think your English hero's Upson and Green would play for West Ham for free?

You're stuck in the past, football is rapidly changing and if WHU can't keep up to scratch then they'll soon fall incompetently into 'a Leeds' or 'a Newcastle'.

We've seen it before...

This was NOTW - they take highest rumour of salary - add to that the best outcome on bonuses - i.e. we win every competition - add that and then ass a bit more for NOTW wow factor and then publish

So, I question he's earning £1M every 5 weeks and that equates to WHU players playing for nothing? Man City aren't demonstrating competence to pay that kind of wage. They are just demonstrating that they've got a very large amount of money.

Competence as a football club translates as trophies.
