I said Spain will win from the beginning and would look a fool to go back on that now. So sticking to my guns and going for Spain who done good for me so far.

Netherlands all the way. i don't know why but I really do not like the Spanish national team. Spain is all about possession and passing, and the Dutch are probably best suited in the tournament to deal with that.

I've been disgusted with Holland - especially against Brazil. You could possibly excuse their roughness (especially with NDJ in there) but not when half the team also dive and cheat. You can't be the tough guy and the pansy. Von Bommell being caught by close up a camera going down like was shot when Alves on the ground near him barely touched him was sickening. And then you have that twat VanPersie up front.
I'm sorry NDJ but hopw Holland are murdered by Spain (hope Silva plays a part too just to get a look).

I'd agree with your comments about the Dutch.I think they have been one of the roughest teams in the comp.Hope Spain give them a lesson.
Vamos Spain.

Come on the orange. Did everyone a favour kicking that Brazilian mixture of overrated, il disciplined, whinging, diving, pansies & cynical, professional foulers out of the tournament..

I don't want Spain to win for the same reason I didn't want Barcelona to win the CL.
I am bored of the wankfesty love-in about how amazing there ticka tacka bollocks is. Fact is that (like Arsenal at their worst) they fanny about too much and aren't ruthless enough in putting the ball in the back of the net.
If the Germans had played at the level they did vs England and Argentina, I don't even think Spain would have made it to the final.
Hup Holland

Not entirely happy with some of terms used here. Surely we can find better words for Spanish and Dutch?

I agree in part with that. When it comes off at it's best, as in Barca, it's fantastic & breathtaking but it's not always the kind of higher level, all singing, all dancing, God's gift to football that it's made out to be. It's A style that's working, in this era, against the current opposition. Someone will find a way to beat it & I hope they do, because if everyone works at the same style & learns to play the same way, teams will just cancel each other out & bore the shit out of everyone, with teams concentrating more on keeping the ball rather than going for goal. It's variety that makes football what it is.

Agree with that Ted.
Although instances like Inter Milan eliminating Barcelona (or even Wimbledon beating Liverpool in the '88 Cup Final) can be viewed as "anti-football" in certain ways, I actually enjoy the shaking up of the "beautiful game" in lots of ways. It's not just about an underdog upsetting the applecart, on a tactical level it is a real triumph when a team of individually less gifted players manages to squarely beat a superior rival due to a more disciplined, well executed and effective gameplan which is primarily based around snuffing out threats from the opposition.
You are spot on that it is coaches and teams finding ways to nullify the threat offered by the likes of Barcelona, Spain and Arsenal that keeps the style of game in a state of constant evolution and it is that which keeps it interestingh

Someone other than Ferguson will discover the damage you can do by employing width one day. Doubt it'll be us though.

Yeah, because Barca won fuck all last couple of seasons.
Scoring 250+ goals in 2 years is too much fanny about.

tut tut
re-read what I wrote my friend
I was comparing their overelaboration and reluctance to shoot with Arsenal...not Barcelona
