Not really.

got excited when gerrard scored then watched in growing horror as the performances got worse and worse descending into farce
rooney...
losing 4 facking 1 against germany? did they not know how important that game was?
rooney...
those fucking horrible horrible volvo-vulvas
rooney...
Italy going out early
France going out early - actually that was a highlight!
Brazil going out
Spain are boring

all in all was a bore I thought, not enough goals and excitement - tho' the ghana game was pretty good!

so so glad I didn't spend any money to go

One positive - Boateng looks quality.

your thoughts?

it's not over yet. The Dutch need to win to make it completely satisfying, but i think it's been a solid tournament that has progressed over the last 2 weeks in the quarters and semis. Uruguay-Germany was fucking cracking...what a fun match. Let's hope for something similar in the final.

Korea, Uruguay, Japan, Ghana were fun surprises. German youth steamrolled and put on the best scoring displays of the tournament. Brasil and England disappointed. The US showed some grit, but really offered nothing of actual quality or depth in crashing out. New Zealand and Australia created a bit of havoc and some fun. Maradona and the Argies seemed so close but had no answer to a tactically superior manager and a vibrant, youthful team. David Villa and Diego Forlan were amazing, carrying their countries on their backs in legendary fashion. Some really good performances from lesser-known players from countries like Uruguay, Mexico, Ghana, Korea, Paraguay, Chile, Japan and the US among others who will get some notice and pub in the next couple weeks as bigger teams much bigger than their current sides will try to swoop in to nab them.

Also, Orange.

cheers

It was alright in the end. I suppose better than no football but I'm glad it's over again and we can start concentrating on REAL football.

Loved it so far. Even though we were gash, I've enjoyed the other games and last nights play-off was one of the best games I've seen. Let's hope the final goes the same way!

Pretty much sums it up, except the part about the Dutch. I think Spain will win it. Spain are the best footballing side in this WC and its a joy to watch them play.
Forlan is the Player of the tournemant for me.
I did enjoy it and will surely miss it. We still have more than 4 weeks until EPL starts, so its gonna be a boring time until then.

I've enjoyed it.So many of our players in it for one thing, in big teams. The horns haven't bothered me at all. Some of the matches have been great.
And the fact that there is going to be a new name on the trophy gives me hope that change can always happen and although its a bit of a tenuous link hopefully its an indicator that there will be a new name(us) on the prem this year.

Course I did.

Three live games per day for nearly two weeks. How could you not enjoy that?

The days without games dragged really badly and my sleeping pattern is completely fucked with all the knockout games kicking off at 2.30am but it was well worth it. Should have a summer tournament like this every year!

Apart from the fact that it meant I could watch more football, I think it's been absolutely dreadful, with a few exceptions; mainly Germany who've played some slick football AT PACE rather than tippy tapping around the midfield at walking pace like most.

Most of the great players of the world have been average or poor & looked as if they care more for their clubs & are tired & would rather be on holiday. The ball is shit, players are having to alter their techniques to deal with it. The fans at home in the 'fan parks' in the various home countries look much more passionate than the fans at the grounds, who are more like rag-type tourist fans, politely applauding goals rather than going berserk. Vuvufuckingzela's making every game seem the same.

Some games in the last rounds have been very good. The rest was poor quality & boring. Hardly any magic to remember.

Brazil WC will be much much better in every way .

Always enjoy a major international tournament. When it comes to football City aren't the only thing in existence.

Have to say it's been one of the poorer tournaments though.

High points:
i thought of mint when Lahm got roasted and then found out there was a whole Lahmacist movement out there.

Low points:
i found my allegience switching wildly during games that i didnt care about, based rather worryingly just on who was
going forward with the ball.

good things

1) status quo of finalists being shattered
2) some so called lesser teams pulling out suprises
3) Overhyped mongs like rooney exposed for what they are

bad things
1) Vuvuzelas
2) weird ball stifled the early competition
3) some games dragged on when they should have been classics, brazil portugal springs to mind

Pretty much loved it except the bits with England in it - and Lahm's eyebrows.

Agree with the above about the vuvuzelas... I think they neutralised any possibility of a real football atmosphere. Everygame had exactly the same soundtrack.

I think its bein a great spectacle, some great games some awful ones, bags of controversy, three of the worlds biggest teams imploding on its biggest stage (France, Italy and England). Some of the worlds biggest stars failing to perform (Rooney, Kaka, Ronaldo Torres, etc..), the rise of Muller, Ozil. Sneijder and Robben staking claims that they are top players (proving Real Madrid wrong). Villa proving he is the worlds best goal scorer (even playing on the left wing). Mark Van Bommell trying really hard to injure everybody. Sepp Blatter talking shite, its had everything. Howard Webb to make a crazy decision tonight to send someone off (possibly Van Bommell).

Its been the worst world cup I have ever seen, but its been ok. Those fookin Vuvuzelaz have done my nut. Its been down to sides not really being bothered about it, its lacked passion imo. I think the likes of France,Italy,England,Brazil not really turning up has been one of the reasons it has has been so poor.

You've just listed more things that have made it so poor. We all like to see the best nations and best players perform. Thats what would have made it a great comp. These guys like Muller and Ozil will do fook all once the world cup is over. Some mugs will get over excited and pay silly amounts for them, and they will flop. Diof springs to mind..

Shite.

vuvuzelas and the jubalani have ruined it imo.
South Africans are the most boring football fans in the world........nothing to add to the atmosphere apart from a droning noise.

clueless cunts.
