Finally It's Over

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Finally It's Over

Postby Vhero » Sun Jul 11, 2010 10:36 pm

The world Cup that is and we can get back to normality football wise. I for one was happy when Spain finally won as we can get back to transfers without the excuses of the World Cup and real football rather than that crap we been watching for nearly a month and a half. I hope they incinerate every one of those Jubilani balls too now it's finished as those things should never be used in the professional game again. I have never seen so many free kicks fly over the bar in by professional footballers in my life.

Sorry chief, but all this 'real football' stuff is bollocks. The only reason you've given to label the world cup 'fake' is few freekicks going over the bar. This just isn't a valid point.

These players are the best in the world and the world cup is football's show-piece.

Just because you didn't enjoy is doesn't make it any less 'real' than the Premiership.

Excuse me for wanting an explanation, on a football forum, as to why you don't think the World Cup is 'real' football. These are the same players playing at the World Cup that play in the leagues too, just so you know.

You've only names English players. I thought we established long ago how useless they are. I for one have enjoyed seeing footballers from Germany, Uruguay, Spain, Brazil, Argentina etc giving their all.

That is pretty bad i have to say.As big a let down (for me) as the tournament was it still is and always will be the show piece for the game of football.I did not enjoy this one as i have others, it was a poor world cup but i will always be looking forward to the next one regardless.

Cant wait for meaningless pre-season friendlies for everyone to get over excited/overly depressed about.

Yep cant wait for over inflated fee's for average players.

Cant wait to see our players not crying or on thier feet after being defeated in a massive game.

Cant wait for kick and rush. Blood and thunder and all those other attributes that got no where at the world cup.

Cant wait for Rooney and Lampard and co to bang two against Wigan at home in a 5-0 win and being back to 'world class'

Cant wait for Blackpool verses Stoke.

Cant wait to see if it will be United or Chelsea who win the league this year.

Cant wait for empty stadiums at UEFA cup games.

Agree with most of the above....if you claim to love football, I don't see how you can take no pleasure from the World Cup (....even one which was on the whole quite poor like this).

Sure some of the hyped names failed to deliver but there were some great extended looks available at some names who I knew, and had seen but never over extended periods against the very best.

One of the best legacies for me of this world cup is the fact that several "big" nations, if they have any sense whatsoever, should have seen how the blueprint for ripping out the foundations and starting afresh (a la Germany) can work and hopefully will have the courage of their convictions to try it properly. With any luck, we could see a brand new looking team representing England, France and Italy all competing to qualify in the next European Championships and hopefully an altogether more enjoyable World Cup in Brazil in 2014.

I agree with that and what with the next world cup being in Brazil what better way to reshape their national teams. Let’s behonest, there’s probably no point turning up at the next World Cup unless the Brazil team plane crashes and kills them all a month before the start of that world cup.

Zero expectation so trying something new, different, and build toward the future.

What’s quite beautiful about the German thing is, even when they got to the stage England, France and Italy are at the moment and decided to the start a fresh after Euro 00. The side that they totally wrote off still got to a World Cup final.

My problem is it was a total let down. If it wasn't for the Germans there wouldn't have been anything worth watching. I am just glad to be watching City but as usual people took this as an opportunity to slate me (not you personally) how fucking immature but not unexpected. This board used to be a great place to post on but god some people are just getting so OTT now it's breaking the sites cred. Just a few bad eggs on this site need a good kicking up the backside.

Stop being a drama queen. You post a controversial view that is open to debate, your theory is riddle with holes and people will pick up on it. Thats how a messageboard works.

If you didnt enjoy Spains display against Germany then you should go watch another sport. Chile and Mexico were a joy to watch until they got knocked out. The drama of Ghana Uruguay not do it for you? How about the Argentina team playing their hearts out for their coach?

You didnt enjoy NZ unbeaten run, Classic David and Goliath story or Italy and France failing miserably?

What the fuck are you talking about?
Cred?

You think a topic about the world cup (the greatest show on earth) which has the ludicrous title 'Finally, it's over' - as if you've been longing for it to end - gives YOU any cred?

Wow !
