Just noticed on another forum, that City legend Ken Barnes passed away today.

He was responsible for spotting and bringing through a number of youngsters, and my thoughts and condolences go out to Peter and his family

(couldn't see this anywhere. But if already posted please remove mods)

Very sad news if this is true. Ken was a corking player for us and also served us for many, many years in different roles.

R.I.P. Barnesey. A true City leg end for sure.

A player I'm too young to know firsthand, but a name I can't fail to recognise and respect for his service to the club.

RIP.

Fantastic bloke and great servant to the club, not only as a player but as assistant manager, coach, and chief scout who spotted Paul Lake and David White amongst others - probably had something to do with Peter Barnes coming to the club as well !!!

Played only one first team match in the first 4 years with the club and didn't become a first team regular until he was 26 but went on to be regarded as one of the best uncapped English mid-fielders ever.

RIP Beaky

Very sad news.

He was a great man. Loved his football and was very knowledgeable. A true City great both as a footballer then on the management side particularly as Chief Scout as I recall. I had the pleasure of a number of conversations with him and he was always approachable, good humoured and told it as it was.

My thoughts are with his family and friends.

RIP Ken.

i was fortunate to have watched almost every home game that Ken played and he was undoubtebly the best uncapped player I ever saw.How he was never picked for England beggars belief. I seldom saw him misplace a pass and he was what today we would call a defensive midfielder. He was also a tireless worker for the club after he retired as a player. A true blue through and through.
My thoughts are with Peter(also a City legend) and all his family.
RIP Ken

Firstly, RIP to a Legend.

Secondly, if it is true (as we are basically trusting a source on another forum), why have the club not put something on the official site? Very, very poor MCFC.
