Can anyone give me an update on what is happening, what is known to be planned and what rumours are currently flying around.

Well we signed up some architect fella and the council made some sort of announcement, much to the club's digust. Club is holding back, so maybe it was on Cooky's napkin the other day?
There are a couple of fairly recent threads on both here and on Blue Mong mate with all the latest gen, better search for them!

The 'City Street' thingy has been redesigned apparently, so it's going to be situated mainly around the store area with canopies for shelter rather than the proposed 'halo' thing. There will be an outdoor pub type area & eating areas etc generally lots of places catering for kids & fat people.

I live near the ground and there still seems to be no progress. They better get a move on if they want this City Street thing ready for the season.

Perhaps it will be a lots of "put up/take down" structures, wheeled in for games with tent/marquee type cover and then dismantled and stored away for the next game.

I think the canopies etc will be permanent structures, at least for a few years but I think it'll be a piece of piss to build it all once the groundwork's done.

Agreed.....presumably the bar/kiosk/shop units can actually be completely assembled and part finished off site and then just plonked next to/under canopies etc once the permanent stuff is in situ

Just drove near Jor Mercer way and the floor there looks like it has been painted sky blue.

I was at the Athletic Stadium today for the sports day for the school I work at and this afternoon as I was thoroughly bored me and a friend went off to the City store, and there is an immense amount of work going on everywhere. Even between the shop and stadium there is stuff going on, there was no obvious buildings (canopies) springing up, having said that Joe Mercer way was totally inaccessible for anyone but workers so there could have been more going on up that way, but there was a lot of work being carried out and a guy in the store said it would all be ready for the start of the season, well the City Street part of it anyway.

How about designated smoking areas inside the ground?
Sick of being treated like a second class citizen

I was there yesterday and there are definitely small buildings going up
There are two block built buildings in different stages to the right and behind the store, there is also a lot more preparatory work going on ( they were coring out 18", or so, chunks of the pavement ) and yes the surface of Joe Mercer way is definitely now blue

City can't do a lot about that, not their rules and the council won't budge
