Boots question

I was going to put this in off topic, but as it's football-related, I've put it here, on the hope of getting more replies. Feel free to move, though.

I've got a pair of boots, which, at some point over the last season, have lost 2 threads into which the studs go. As they're pretty decent boots, although they're about 10 years old, I don't want to replace them (they're my 6-studs for rugby, and I only use them for about 3 games per season, plus Sevens tournaments). Can I get new threads put in to the cavities, and if so, should I take them to a cobbler or to a sports shop? Also, how much would it cost?

I've had the same problem, mine went from constantly changing from Metal Studs for footy to rubber for Rugby. I couldnt get mine fixed at any of the places I went.

Think that's how mine have gone, too. I don't think they were really designed to take rubber studs at all.

You use rubber for rugby? I've always used full-metal, as I thought everything else was banned. Or do you play League?

Have to use rubber for sevens, and when training on artificial grass pitches, though.

I'm sure a cobbler could help you out. Sports shops nowadays don't cater for problems such as these. If you have to get some new ones have a look on pro-direct they have a Rugby section and have decent sales on all year round.

Try a small old fashioned independant sport shop. Inserts are available & quite east to fit.

Living in Belgium, that really isn't an option. Getting a decent pair will set me back over a hundred quid. I've got, at most, 4 seasons of rugby left in me (and probably only one playing Sevens), so that's a tenner a game, if I only wear them on dry pitches.

Thanks for that, had a look at them when you first suggested it. I get the impression that that stuff's for re-making worn-out threads in metal objects, though, whereas I need a totally new metal bit inserted and glued into the plastic sole.

I regularly used rubber depending on how hard the ground was and nobody ever bothered, I know blades are banned for obvious reasons. I was always very particular about studs as I have a knackered left ankle that goes over quite easily.
