RAG: It's about getting the right balance though, Fergie has mastered that and has always had a good blend of youth and experience, and has always been willing to be patient with the young players to see them succeed. Wenger has just tried to mould 11 young players together, which won't work. You need that guidence from the more experienced people in your team.

I'd hate for us to do a City or Madrid and just spend stupid sums of money each season in their quest for glory. Chelsea in fairness to them had a couple of seasons of heavy spending to get them to the top and haven't spent massively since, they've spent quite reasonable IMO, which is fair enough.

I wouldn't mind if we had a rich owner, just so long as we didn't rely on his money to be successful. As people have rightly pointed out our spending and our success has come about through years of hard work and being run in the right way...some summers we have gone out and spent big, others we've spent nothing. It's all about getting the right balance. The 06/07 title was probably my favourite as it was long overdue and it wasn't won by massive spending, it was won by showing faith in our young players and blending that in with experience. That summer we sold Ruud and brought in Carrick, truth be told I didn't give us a chance but of course Fergie knows better than any of us. I'd have hated it if we'd gone out that summer, spent £200m and won the league.

That post is probably the most fucked up you've listed Bish. Totally totally out of touch with reality.

These rags are gettin so bitter and its so clear to see!! they should do themsleves a favour and keep it shut, because they're just makin fools of themselves..

I got a rag mate at work who Im constantly having to put into place. Nothin better than stating facts to these fools and not gettin a reply in return.

Im constantly havin to list the players they have splashed out on. I also state that our money would be very handy in replacing the likes of Giggs,Scholes, VDS and co.. Lol, they're fooked!!!

I thought I might investigate this team that they didn't massively spend money on....

Code: Select all
Edwin van der Sar           £2,000,000
Patrice Evra                £5,500,000
Gabriel Heinze              £6,900,000
Rio Ferdinand               £20,000,000
Cristiano Ronaldo           £12,240,000
Wayne Rooney                £25,600,000
Louis Saha                  £12,800,000
Park Ji-Sung                £4,000,000
Alan Smith                  £7,000,000
Nemanja Vidić               £7,000,000
Michael Carrick             £14,000,000
Ole Gunnar Solskjær         £1,500,000
Mikaël Silvestre            £4,000,000

                            £122,540,000

That, in comparison to the City players at the same period that I can find fees for:

Code: Select all
Joe Hart              £600,000
Andreas Isaksson      £2,000,000
Sylvain Distin        £4,000,000
Richard Dunne         £3,000,000
Sun Jihai             £2,000,000
Dietmar Hamann        £400,000
Trevor Sinclair       £3,300,000
Georgios Samaras      £6,000,000
Darius Vassell        £2,000,000

                      £20,700,000

Interesting I think.

I keep this page bookmarked, just for those special moments at work when the Rags get a bit above themselves. I just love scrolling through the seasons, especially 07/08 ;-)

Just shows what a red tinted glasses wearing pleb this guy is when he says the following: "Chelsea in fairness to them had a couple of seasons spending big and then spent reasonably IMO (who give a flying f**k about ur opinion) totally contradicting himself by slagging us off for the same thing as were still in those couple of seasons spending big!
