Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

footballers' nicknames?

Postby BobbyJ1956 » Wed Jul 21, 2010 6:00 pm

Was there ever a footballer with a better one than Lev Yashin - "the black octopus"? (Russian goalkeeper in the '50s - '60s for the youngsters.)
Then there were:
Chopper Harris
Nijinsky

Wonder what players call each other, too.

hold on, wasn't Yashin called 'black spider'. Can't check it anywhere as I'm on with my phone but I'm pretty sure about that.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

read some article about city and the writer was responding to comments and kept referring to Yaya as "small berries" ... I have no clue as to why.

I seem to remember Vince Kompany being called Two's by someone on the board. That was a low point.
