God I can't wait for this season to start...just so we know either way how good our team are going to perform

Would dearly love us to beat Spurs at theirs...if there is a god...please grant me my wish if only to shove it up our detractors arses

Looks like it's going to be one hell of a rollercoaster!

Agree. Can't wait.

I think it is going to be really important to get off to a good start, or the press will have a field day!

Who gives a fuck about what the press think or say? I certainly couldn't care less if they try to slate us, so long as the manager, players, and we are satisfied that progress is being made.

Personally I just want to watch some great football...I hope Mancini lets the reigns off so we can make the most of our attacking talent...wasn't impressed the way he set our stall out in those final games of the season last year

yeah the football nose dived but many are citing this as not having the squad to match the tactics - he's made some great signings in positions which backup these claims, so we shall see

cant wait for the season but dont want it yet. Still players to possibly sign and just as important the 25 to select and see who is in and who is out. robson and the like to get sorted out. Then there is the build up to who is going to get selected for the Spurs game, with little time for the new players to find their feet it could be a baptism of fire for some of them. We wont know who is going to settle in straight away or struggle.
The one thing that we should dampen expectations about is once again this is a season with too many unknowns even for football.
I suppose to some extent the Dortmund game and more the Valencia game will give us a bit of an idea of who is shaping up to be in the side/squad and how well they are playing with the team.
One thing i am interested in is to see how Mancini goes about the opener with Spurs. My guess he will play safe and look to use one or two new players and feed them in during the start of the season. But he may be full of confidence and think it is worth a gamble and throw most of them in from the start.
Questions questions questions...

I'm sure we had the same conversation last year, but isn't it champing at the bit?

Chomping is on carrots!

in the spirit of getting well ahead of myself.. was looking at the fixtures to the end of the xmas period.

apart from the openers the games against the top oppo are well spaced out.. dont know why but i like it.
Also there are 9 'winnable' games (if you include Everton ) in the run up and through xmas.
So if we have a team at all and we can get a result in the derby there is a long run of games where we could put some points on the board. So my prediction is that we will be sat at the top of the table in the new year with points to spare. ;)

Two difficult key opening games
14 August Tottenham A
23 August Liverpool H
Three winnable ?
29 August Sunderland A
11 September Blackburn H
18 September Wigan A
key game
25 September Chelsea H
two winnable ?
3 October Newcastle H
17 October Blackpool A
key game
24 October Arsenal H
two winnable ?
30 October Wolverhampton A
6 November West Brom A

10 November Man Utd H

five winnable ?
13 November Birmingham H
21 November Fulham A
27 November Stoke A
4 December Bolton H
11 December West Ham A
key just cos of last season
18 December Everton H
three winnable ?
26 December Newcastle A
28 December Aston Villa H
1 January Blackpool H
key game
4 January Arsenal A
