Balotelli Is Eligible as U21 for Prem but not Europe

I know some of you have been saying this for weeks but I didn't believe it. Anyway just had confirmation from my contact at the Premier League that Balotelli (if we sign him) would be eligible for the B list for the Prem League - so we could have 17 other non Home Grown players on the A list. He is not eligible for the Europa League B list though, he would have to be club trained for that and isn't. Interestingly my contact said that she had assumed the PL followed in UEFA in this and was also surprised that foreign U21s are eligible.

I was referred to Section L of the Premier League Handbook for confirmation.

I was with you on this. I read so many times in so many articles that the U21 Squad B player has to have been at the club for 3 years. But it isn't in these rules anwhere. Could there be a separate appendix skulking about?

Just repeats what we said about nobody knowing what the fuck is going on here.

can we only have 1 squad list for all competitions? Ithought this 25 man squad thing was just a prem thing and european teams dont have to do it.

Wont a 25 man squad fuck us up when were playing in four diffrent competitions?

There are two COMPLETELY SEPARATE rulings and restrictions here. One for the Premier League and one for Europe. Neither of them have anything to do with each other despite the introduction being made in same season.

My source said that this additional difference surprised her too and must be because of commitments already entered into by clubs. She also said that they were also surprised the new rules were voted through by the clubs and that she wouldn't be surprised if the regulations changed again quite soon. Surprising eh!?
