Surprised to see spurs make such little of the transfer market so far considering they qualified for the champions league.I would have imagined Harry a chronic shopper in the transfer market historically to have have been keen to stengthen his squad especially now he has the ultimate negotiating tool "chamions league football".
To see them now aiming at loan deals is strange to say the least, are spurs in financial trouble?
In fairness i have often wondered how spurs have managed to spend vast sums on players. They have never been shy in the transfer market always willing to spend big, is it finally catching up with them?

Why on earth would "loaning" any of our players, to a direct rival, be of any interest or benefit to City?

Have the press and Mr Redknapp not realised we are wadded and money isn't an issue?

Only 25 eligible players in all competitions would be the sole reason

Don't see how that makes any difference. Just because a few players may have to leave, how does helping one of our rivals become a good idea? Why not loan the players to non rivls instead so they are stronger when they play our rivals?

We barely have 25 class players anyway atm & have very few problems getting it down to 25 even if we sign Milner & Balotelli. There's no reason whatsoever for City to give any decent players to rival teams.

But we can have more than 25 on the books, granted only 25 can play, but we do not need to be down to 25. And "loaning" out some of our staff to a direct rival would be suicidal.

'Arry needs to get rid of some players before getting anyone in considering 25 man squad rule. They got fucking massive squad. If I counted properly, they used about 30 players in league last season.

the original interview is on the BBC website
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/t/tottenham_hotspur/8878928.stm

all pretty straightforward. He rekons the Milner transfer would kick start more movement, but that clubs are short of cash so loan deals are more likely. He also rekons spurs have a lot of english players so they wont be effected much by the 25 rule.

What he did go on about was the International break adn that spurs have City then CL qualifyer a few days later that they really want to make sure they get through, all this when players will only be returning from internationals on Friday morning before the opening game.

It makes it all look like the League opener is going to be anyone's guess as to what will happen. I can see it being a bit of a free for all. Good thing for us though is Spurs are going to have more than one eye on that CL qualifyer.

If we do our jobs on the pitch loaning to a rival wont hurt us as our players cant play against us for any of our rivals.

Draw is on Friday together with the draw for the Europe League.. so by Friday afternoon we will all be a lot clearer, who we have got and who they have got. They will of course play theirs 1 day before us.

Funny how some people think City 'have to get rid of players not in the 25'. Absolute tosh.

Firstly there are Europa, Carling and FA cups, and secondly there is no rule that says you have to lend or sell players at a disadvantageous rate. Keep them on the books if we cant get the right deal to the right club.

Mind you I do think a lot will happen on deadline day around the market as negotiators cave in.

They'll play one of

Fenerbahçe
Dinamo Kiev
Sporting Braga
Sampdoria
AJ Auxerre

This is assuming that Zenit (0-0 away), Braga (3-0 home), Ajax (1-1 home), Fenerbahce (2-2 away) & Dinamo Kiev (3-0 home) all qualify. If Ajax(+Zenit) doesn't qualify then Fenerbahce(+Kiev) will become seeded and a potential opponent for Spurs will be Paok Thessaloniki(+Unirea Urziceni).
