He has worked hard, shown some good touches and bagged a few goals too! Could this be the season we see why we paid all that money for him?
On current form we could do a lot worse than keep him for now.....his value at the moment is jack diddly squat.
If he continues this form which, I completely agree with you, has looked a million miles better than first time round (and for everton 1st and 2nd spell) then either we have a pretty good player on our hands or we can at least get a half decent fee for him at Xmas/Summer 2011.
I remember when he signed some said that he was much better operating as a "Number 10" type player off a more advanced striker. It seemed odd that we'd signed him to do that as we had both Robinho and Elano who also like to occupy those kind of positions. As well as having Ireland who often operated there.
What we didn't have at the time was a decent proper striker.....up in the box. I'm loathe to make excuses for him on one hand as I think his attitude and application were poor (and continued that way at Everton) but maybe it was part new country/new league/new distractions and part square peg/round hole as we wanted him to be that advanced striker and what we are seeing now is clear evidence that he really is best suited being the player more involved with the midfield and using deft touches and movement to bring in his partner or the advancing midfield.
Being able to use him to do this, as well as the wide players actually performing would mean that hopefully Carlos and Adebayor (and maybe soon Balotelli) can concentrate on profiting from that dimension he can bring and will stop dropping deep and wide and not being in the box when the ball gets there.
I've not been able to see much action but from what I have seen he has been the stand out talent so far......it's a funny old game
