Ian Holloway

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Ian Holloway

One thing I'm really looking forward to this season is Holloway's post-match interviews, he's brilliant. Here's a few choice quotes from an interview with him in The Mail today-

"It’s a jigsaw, we need far too many pieces and the picture isn’t on our box lid. We were expecting a different box."

"I feel like I’m a fella who was selling the Big Issue last week with my dog sat by me looking pretty hungry and I just picked up a winning Lottery ticket."

"As for all the DVDs I’ve had from agents, I’ve put them on a big line in my garden to scare off the hordes of crows after my chickens’ food."

"I was fuming at first when people said we wouldn’t get 10 points. But when I got the fixture list I said, “My God, where are we going to get 10 points from?"

He's come out with some belters over the years and being on BBC every weekend will be great.

yea, whenever I've seen an interview with him it's put a smile on my face at the very least, if not had me cracking up.

I'll be looking for blackpool's results/post match interviews every week

Yeah! Also one of the few football people whose columns in different publications have always been well worth the read. Not only funny but very symphatic and intelligent. I'm a fan.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I've got masses of respect for him as a manager for the way he completely changed his MO. He was a kick and rush man until a couple of years ago, then completely changed his mind following an enforced break from the game, he did his homework and came back as Mr total football.

On top of that he's a real character and likeable too unlike the character that the press all love, dodgy Arry.

one funny guy indeed. i would love blackpool to stay up (north west and probably will be the best away game ever in prem history for most fans in terms of non football)

Love him and hope the club do well but I hate the town with a passion, I can't imagine me going there on purpose even to see City

The way he's got together a bunch of no mark players & got them into the Prem with fuck all money, but playing proper football, is an absolute credit to him. Unfortunately blokes that get teams up by playing football always seem to lack the financial backing to sign anyone who could help them stay there. Owen Coyle at Burnley being the latest example.

Holloway will be great fun while he's here though unlike phoney Harry.

One of his best, I think it was about a striker he had, who was going through a barren spell (but don't shoot me if I'm wrong). "He's so unlucky at the moment, if he fell into a barrel of diddies, he would come out suckin' his thumb."
City are coming to get you!

Is it just me or does he look a bit like the guy who played Freddy Krüger?
