Has been called up to the Belgian squad against Finland. Fantastic achievement for the lad. I think he will be our main centre half next season.

I love Del Boy, we'd better not do anything silly like letting him go.

You think he'll play ahead of Toure, Lescott, Boeteng, Kompany, Richards?

That's quite a bold statement mate. I like the lad but I cannot see him starting many games next season with all those players in front of him.

One for the future though for sure.

The Belgian national team should be very competitive in the coming few years. Fellaini, Vermaelen, Kompany, Dufour are all Premiership standard and youngsters like Hazard at Lille, Witsel at Liege, Boyata and Lukaku (the Anderlecht one Chelsea are after) are waiting in the wings.

Well done Dedryck. Even with the CB choices we have it seems clear that Roberto is going to involve him a lot.

Dembele is a good prospect too. And watch out for Mertens, he has been an absolute star for Utrecht and if he's still here next season I will eat my cock.

I think thats abit of an overstatement mate.

I really do think he will. He's 20 this year, he'll be 21 next year. He's far better than Richards, he's better than Kompany at centre half IMO, i don't think Mancini rates Lescott and i reckon Boateng will be our right back for the future rather than centre back.

Mancini has already said he rates Boyata really high and i think he is one of the reasons why we haven't gone out and spent £35m on David Luiz or any other centre back when we could of done as lets be honest, the central defence is our only weak spot now. He's one for the future and i think that future will come soon as in next season. I wouldn't be suprised if he clocks up 15-20 starts for us this year and maybe a loan move in early 2011.

Might watch this friendly then - only know of the others through what I've seen in CL/Europe.

Just out of interest mate how many games have you actually seen him play? And I don't mean at youth level where Ben Mee looks like a rock.

How ever many he has played for us including the home game against the rags when he comfortably handled the inform striker in the world at that time and kept him quiet. Put it this way, he'd get in the rags team now as he's better than Smalling and Evans.

Are you sure he was marking Rooney? Cause I think if you watch it back you'll find different.
So based on a handful of games he's going to be class and better than any CB we've got at the moment?

For once I agree that one of our academy boys has got great potential. Thankfully he can still get a cup run-out now and again this year.

I'm with the georgian genie on this one. Every time I see Boyata I'm amazed at how well he reads the game, he just seems to instinctively know the right place to be. He oozes quality and looks more the finished article than Lescott, Toure or Kompany!
