The brothers and the month ahead..

So just started fasting at 3:50 am (1st day of Ramadan) and will refrain from food, drink and smoking (arghh) untill 8:30 in the evening.

Just got me think thinking about our concerned players though, as I believe the Toure's would be affected during this month.

Good thing we have Spurs away as they are aloud not to fast on travels, although I am not sure what are they going to do.
Is Liverpool match at 7 or 8? I hope its later so they get some hydration for the 2nd half LOL.

Its gonna be a hard month for the brothers with the training and all the stuff but I hope it keeps them tough and motivated. Food and drink are overrated anyway, good stuff they don't smoke.

Edit: a quick google and I read that yaya decided not to fast all days last year along with couple barca players, and make up for it later, although I am sure Kolo fasted last year.

Strange thing is, I remember Kolo going through a good patch of form during Ramadan last year. He scored a couple of goals and looked quicker and stronger, which is hard to explain really.

Might not be a bad thing!

If a professional player was weakening himself and the team for some bullshit religious thing i'd be royally fucked off. They better shut up and eat there pasta like everyone else.

I remember muslim footballers commenting on Ramadan before, stating that it has no effect on their strength.

Didn't do Anelka any harm when he was playing for City

I'd imagine Ali Bernarbia likely also fasted during his time at Maine Road

I recall talking to Bowen about this last year.It wasn't so much a concern they had but simply something they were watching closely to see if they could detect any effects in matches, in which case they would have to sub Kolo or something. The reality is that Kolo has handled this for many years so felt confidently it wouldn't be an issue. As somebody has already said it wasn't a problem in the end.

Nah, that's when Dennis Wise and Joey Barton go out together for the night at Maccy D's.
