Compared to Shearer & Lineker no.

Compared to Heskey, Cole, DeFoe, Bent & Agbonlahor; absofuckingloutely.

Not for me. Decent PL goalscorers in DeFoe & Bent but they can't trap a bag of cement for England. Zamora's a physical handful but he can also control ball, set up chances for others & score goals. He's proved it against some decent PL & European defenders & if he can produce that without going to pieces at international level, he'll be a decent frontman until someone better comes along.

Why Crouch doesn't start every England game baffles me though tbh.

Form is temporary, class is permanent. Zamora showed some good form last year, end of.

None of the others have any class though.

agreed. not one of the second list of players has done anything of note for england, some do nothing of note in the prem and still get called up. i'd like to see zamora given a chance on the basis that any other cunt seems to get one.

Crouch is probably one of the most vastly underrated strikers out there...he's even pretty decent with a ball at his feet imho. i'd have him in a heartbeat if i was Don Fab. Who fuclin else is there?

Agree about Zamora vs the likes of Cole, et al. Zamora has 3x the grit and determination to make a difference. Haven't seen much desire or focus from the rest of that lot to make me feel otherwise.

cheers

Bent is in a higher group than those mentioned. they guy can score for fun even in an average sunderland team. spuds didnt give him long enough when he was with them

he's in my fantasy team so I hope he keeps scoring
The weird thing is some average footballers can get really rather good very late in their careers, Drogba is a fairly decent example of this

Heskey is better than Zamora? Jog on.

Zamora and Bent/Defoe/Agbonlahor are different types of forward. As much as they may not be top notch together, Zamora and Bent/Defoe could conceivably make a decent partnership.

I'd actually go so far as to say that Zamora has more skill than Cole.

However, all that aside, he is one or two levels below what we'd want as our first choice striker in an England jersey. But, then again, ditto that for Johnson (RB), Barry (DM), and Gerrard (LW).

Its make do and mend time for Fabio. England simply aren't as good as they think they are.
