Not really watched it for years. Although Lovejoy is a bit of a bell end it was quite funny when he was in it. The few episodes i've caught since then have been a bit shit.
And Helen looks more and more like a haggered old trout each year. Shame really but it couldn't go on for ever.

Bit shit since Lovejoy left and they binned all the decent features. Surprised they let it go down hill as much as it did as I thought it would survive without Lovejoy. They should bin it and start again with something a bit more serious and with some decent pundits.

It's on Sports 2 as well, the 2 hours could be a one off I suppose. It has improved again since they got rid of Goldstein but nowhere near its glory days. The 3 guys that left at t he same time as Lovejoy (Fenners,Sheephead and the Tramp) haven't really been replaced with even half decent quality on screen, but then the chemistry of that crew was always going to be difficult to replicate when you consider that most of them aren't actually in front of camera talent in the normal scheme of things

Lovejoy was Soccer am. Soccer am was Lovejoy. Both now not worth watching.

As much as I enjoyed Lovejoy on Soccer Am, you've hit the nail on the head for me. It was more the crew that have been missed more than anything, Fenners was laugh out loud funny. I've seen he's got a new quiz show starting on Sky soon too, not sure if it'll be any good or not though
That fat bloke they have now sitting in a cafe supposedly being dead pan funny is absolutely cringeworthingly bad and sums up the show

You're not wrong on the cafe thing, fookin awful. That Fenners thing is on at 9:30, right before Soccer AM, not sure myself on whether he can carry a show on his own

Thought it was just because of the US PGA coverage, but its on SS2 next week too because of the cricket coverage. It seems that the live Saturday lunchtime games are also on ss2 for the foreseeable future too.
I think it is a natural move, as in the last few years sly have started to charge separately for the sports channels, as have BT and cable, because of course they want people to pay for more than just SS1. Until now, aside from the odd Champions League game all the best events football wise have been on SS1. Now people are going to have to put their hands in their pockets again and pay for the full sports package.
On the flip side, we get Monday night football back on SS1, and they have some bloody good fixtures in the coming weeks, not the normal West Brom vs Fulham type shit.

I used to like it when it was about football.
In recent years it seems to have become more and more about the presenters trying to make themselves look cool by bringing in a succession of bands and actors as guests.

Shadow of it's former self but reducing it to two hours seems like a good move, I think they were struggling to fill three hours but it seems slightly better paced now

As people said it used to be really funny, and Lovejoy WAS the programme. Now it's more slapstick idiocy than comedy.
Saw some today but had to keep switching back to SSN as it was so dire.
Had it's day.

The flip side of that is that we have to play on a fucking Monday night.
I'd still give Helen one, even if she is a looking bit rougher these days.
