Haha nice comparison thought he did ok today, will only get better as he adjusts to hyper speed of the Premiership. Found space nicely which relieves pressure on defence. At home when he is sitting behind 2 strikers it will be mouthwatering.

He's got quick feet which is an essential asset playing in that position. Only gonna get better and I'm really looking forward to watching him progress this season

after flying all the way to and back from mexico i think it is difficult to assess anything from the performance v spuds. He has the feet and quick thinking so he should be fine, will be great to see him when he gets going and gets up to speed.

I do have a lingering doubt though and it is more to do with Yaya than anything. We will depend a lot on the link play between Yaya and Silva, also Barry and Silva and probably Milner too. At barca Yaya tended to slow the passing down.. but that is in comparison to Iniesta and Xavi.. even so he was the slow one. So my point is that Silva may well be on his own at the level of quick passing to retain possession in the oppos half. I was hoping that Ireland would be tried out with Silva as the two of them would play off each other well imo. Without that Silva only has Barry, Yaya, Milner, AJ, SWP and Tevez and imo none of those have shown capability to play the short passing game effectively, maybe Tevez at times.
I dont see this as a major problem just that we may not get as much out of Silva as we might if he had someone with as quick feet and composure to work with.

I saw enough, especially considering the week he had and the lack of playing time with his new team mates to think that my initial thoughts on him signing were well founded. And yes Lee, he reminded me of Kinky too, and can you imagine how amazing Gio would have been had he had the sort of team around him as Silva now has!

doesn't look like he will be kicked out of games either, got stuck in on a couple of occasions.

Yep

I think Silva will be like him but less likely to go missing and capable of skill on an altogether higher plane

In short a massive massive step up from the over-rated one
