Somehow 'thank you' doesn't seem enough.

This is the Times I believe? But even so it's still loaded against us, because how does ALL 'committed wages' feature in the Sheik's expenditure to date? Surely Cookie's business plan may account for at least some of it?

It doesn't say 'expenditure to date' it says 'total committed outlay'.

Even so, some of it will come from the club. As opposed to the Sheik dipping into his piggy bank.

£487m??? Lets assume that all players are on a 4 year contract, at £100k per week, thats roughly £20m per player over the next 4 years, and that the 25 players in the squad are all on £100k a week.

Not a very good stab in the dark, not even close for that matter. I believe we have 3 maybe 4 players on over £100k/week, and the signing of Balotelli for £65k a week shows just how far wide of the mark the media are, stating he was coming on £180k a week.

As KK says, it also assumes that the club dont have a turnover of nearly £100m a year, which all but negates the wage spending anyway.

Edit to say, it must be true as Sky have hung onto this story now.

£65k pw may be (probably is) after tax.

I still can't believe how fantastic it is to have an owner like Sheikh Mansoor. Thank you, thankyouthankyou (times billions).

Just shows how far off the pace we've got since 1977 doesn't it really?

Just shows how far behind we were.

There was no chance in hell of us ever winning the league again unless something like this happened.

Roughly 1 billion of investment to catch us up. Its staggering.

It shows how those bastards carved up the PL/Chump's league money to help them create a seemingly unbridgeable gap between the top 4 & others. Without huge outside investment it's close to impossible to compete, yet before the PL/CL the gap was bridgeable or at least a well managed club could stand a chance of competing.

THEY RUINED FOOTBALL. Sheikh Mansoor is making the PL interesting & competitive again because it's pushing the top players out out of the 'big 4' s' price range, stopping them from rushing further ahead by spending & allowing others to catch up.

Here you go Beefy:

Oil-rich pickings

Breakdown of Sheikh Mansour's spending at Manchester City
Total transfer spending - £355 million (includes £130 million this summer and £140 million last summer)
Total "committed" on wages for new signings and on new contracts for existing players - £487.8 million
Cost of takeover - £210 million
Capital expenditure on improving stadium, training ground and other projects - £20 million
Total "committed" outlay - £1.08 billion

It would be great if he could make it to a match (ticket prices permitting) so that the fans could show him our gratitude.
