Having said that, we had Ireland playing for some of them, who apparently didn't give a shit so its hard to play with 10 men

Not important whatsoever, never have been and never will be, only thing that's important is not picking up serious injuries. Look at Chelsea's pre season, didn't they win one game? They will still be the team to beat. Don't think Blackburn won a single game in the pre season before they won the league either.
