City ruining championship

Can you believe this? am speechless....

Doncaster Rovers chairman John Ryan says Manchester City have wrecked the integrity of the Championship by loaning Craig Bellamy to Cardiff City.

In a column for the Daily Mail, Ryan wrote: "Craig Bellamy's loan move to Cardiff will distort the integrity of the Championship. It is an incredibly competitive division. This is my third season in it with Doncaster and I've learned that it's unpredictability is it's beauty.

"It is not like the Premier League where champions Chelsea have won their opening two games 6-0. Most people expect Manchester United or Chelsea to win the title.

"Yet every team in the second tier believe they can beat anyone and clinch promotion. Just look at what Blackpool and Burnley have achieved.

"Handing a striker of Bellamy's quality to Cardiff - and paying most of his wages - undermines the sanctity of the competition. Manchester City shouldn't have done that. I feel let down by that, as do many other Championship chairman.

"In no way do I blame Cardiff. I'd have been delighted to sign Craig at the Keepmoat, so it's not sour grapes. But if everyone goes to Cardiff and gets slammed 4-0 like us - and remember on-loan Bellamy scored one and set up two on Saturday - the result will be an unfair competition because Manchester City are bankrolling Cardiff's success."

This was the subject of a debate on talksport the other evening and again, City got slated.
Somebody should point out that it was not City's choice to have playing squad restricted to 25 players. By doing so, the League caused quite a number of players to lose their jobs and their means of earning a living.
Any player who is not chosen in his club's 25 man squad has the right to seek employment, with the club of his choice.
The contracts that such players are on, have to be honoured and wages paid.

Despite any unfairness which may result in this, the fault lies with those who made up this rule. Whether Doncaster like it or not, neither City nor Bellamy have much choice but to pursue a policy agreeable to the club and player.

The loan system has operated for many years and nobody has ever complained in the past about any unfair advantage of any other Prem player being loaned out. All the top clubs have loaned out players in the past, giving the recipient club some advantage or other. It has only become an issue since City loaned Bellamy.

City cannot be blamed for ruining Doncaster, It has been ruined for many years.

Laughable. As said, top Clubs have been loaning players to second tier forever. There have been some really good players who have spent time on loan there for example to gain match fitness after injuries.

Also, he makes it sound like Bellamy is some sort of football robot, Maradona and Pele rolled into one. He is a good player but never has he had to bother himself with major individual accolades for example.

Didnt they knock us out of the League cup a couple of years ago live on Sky?

Fuck em!

The rule is the problem. Not City. Cardiff or Bellamy.

Talksport have also had Barry Hearn and Leeds' manager (name escapes me) on saying it's a load of crap and good luck to Cardiff for doing the deal, the latter saying it was good for the Championship. Even Sky on Monday (Keys and Gray) stated that this purely an outcome of te 25 man rule and we would see more of it from other clubs.

On T'S it is a hobby horse of a couple of the presenters but let's not forget that they always get the two presenters to take opposing views to encourage people to phone in. Sensationalism makes them money

I suppose the issue - if there is one - would be that City are paying a large chunk of his wages, thereby subsidising Cardiff. Hardly a hanging offence though is it ?

Hung parliament in Australia and a battle is raging on who can form a Government - just waiting now for us to get the blame for it.

Floods in Pakistan are also City's fault too apparently.

I suppose the premier league are totally free of blame for ruining the championship are they..... first of all, every year 3 premiership teams end up playing next years football in the Championship - This is very bad for Doncaster.... and to make matters worse, the Premier League then give those clubs bucket loads of cash for the next couple of years.... funny how thats not a problem, but one, ONE fucking player (via Man City) is ruining the championship.

Sounds like a bitter twat of a Chairman who knows his team will never be able to compete for Automatic promotion or the play-offs so instead he has resorted to sneaky and backhanded tactics. Presumably he's hoping that Cardiff may get a points deduction, which in principal means Doncaster only have one other team to battle against in order to not get relegated - assumin the points deduction to Cardiff means they will get relegated or at least be struggling for survival.

I'd also like to bring the apostrophe police into this.

From the original article :

In a column for the Daily Mail, Ryan wrote: "Craig Bellamy's loan move to Cardiff will distort the integrity of the Championship. It is an incredibly competitive division. This is my third season in it with Doncaster and I've learned that it's unpredictability is it's beauty.

The journo who wrote this, any typesetter s involved, sub editors, and/or editors should be ashamed of themselves. How do these people get anywhere near such a job?

The word spelled I T S is either it's (meaning it is) or its (without the apostrophe). It is NOT a possessive noun.

Cunts ;-)

I wonder if Doncaster have ever taken a player on loan and the parent club have subsidised his wages? I also wonder if Doncaster have sent a player on loan to a lower league or non league club and subsidised his wages?

I'd be amazed if either had never happened.

Those grapes must be pretty sour in yorkshire.

I can understand that they are pissed because Cardiff now have a player playing for them in the Championship that could easily play for a Top 6 or maybe even Top 4 team in the Premier League.

But this is hardly City's fault now is it.

Blame the fucking FA if you want to blame anyone, they came up with the stupid 25 man rule which forced clubs like City to loan out players.

He has a point though, a player of bellamy's quality plying his trade in the championship is fairly ridiculous
