Roque Santa Cruz

...20 plus minutes to deadline and looks like the lad is staying which I am quite pleased about. All we need now is for him to stay fit (yeah I know) and he will be a good asset to have on the bench.

Please note I reserve the right to amend this post if we sell the fucker before 6:00 pm or he fails to get in the 25 man squad. Funny thing is I do actually rate the guy its just his appalling injury record that winds me up.

i actually agree - we could do worse for a 5th striker - if Ade and Tevez were to get injured we'd be down to Balotelli and Jo as our only strikers - that'd be a lot of pressure on Balotelli, as we know Jo can't play up front on his own.

i expect you to be slated for posting positives about Rocky though.

You've got 22 minutes mate.

I wanted him out before Hughes signed him, and even though I tried my damdest keep an open mind because the fellas I drink with like him, but I honestly havent seen 30 minutes of football that would give me a glimpse that he is worthy of our bench. I just want him off the wage bill.

You just know City will sell him at 05:58 pm and make me look a total twat. Excepting those who think I'm a twat already for rating our Rocky

I would be quite happy with him staying...he may be Crocky but we never saw the best of him here...I genuinely believe when fit he's decent...he's just never fit hehe

He's the model pro, the perfect guy to be the backup to the backup to the backup striker here, he won't moan and will put in a shift if needed, something robbie would not have done.

I'm glad he's (potentially) staying.

We need strength in depth up front and he will give us that.

put it this way - assuming both are fit, RSC or Jo?

Couldn't agree more - he's a more than decent player when he's fit and had a run of game time.

I'd choose Jo of the two, but i'd choose Caicedo before either.

I can't say I'm thrilled. I wish him every success but I've just never seen what he brings to the team.

Though it annoyed me, Robinho took a paycut to go to Santos. RSC is happy to take his paycheck and sit at the end of the bench.

hes on SSN news talking saying(i think cant really understand him) mancini told him he could leave but no one could agree terms with city and thats hes happy to stay and fight for his place in the team and will work hard to try and get his place.

I have a feeling a massive revival is on the cards and he will become good!

I believe Agent Hughes was after him again but could not get a deal done.
Could have worse on the bench but hes a serious sicknote so i would not have cared had he left.I dont dislike the guy he seems a good pro but i just wish City had tightend the purse strings on Hughes at the time.I was never keen on the deal and the way we kept upping our offer was a joke when our intial offer was substatially more than the player was worth anyway.

Bet we were given loads of cheeky last minute 5 million bids by chancers COUGHHUGHESCOUGH.

He can stay, get fit, he has something, type of player who would just score "some" goals, if you brought him on 25 times a season for 20 mins a go, you'd get 10 goals.

I thought I heard him say that Mancini didn't want him and he wouldn't be part of the 25, so will have to sit it out and fight for his place. Could be wrong though, it sounded shit.

"Unfortunately, I have heard from the manager than he won't be counting on me too much this season," Santa Cruz told Sky Sports News.

"I heard that a week before the season and I had time to see if I could arrange a move. But in the end the club were happy to keep me and they weren't happy with anything that came through.

"Now I am looking forward to getting back into training and seeing if I have any opportunities to prove myself in the team."

I tell you what. Good on you RSC... I think some of the Primadonnas (Adebayor) can take a leaf out of that book.

My problem with RSC is that although he's been free of injury for a while he still doesn't look like he's got back full mobility & doesn't seem to carry the same threat jumping for headers anymore. Having said that though, Micah Richards seems to have re discovered a 'spring' attacking corners etc so perhaps it is something you can lose & get back after an injury.

If he does get it it back he'll give us a different kind of striking option & be a real threat but without that 'spring' he's no use whatsoever.

Santas problem will always be that more than he's capable of will be expected from him due to what he cost. He'll never shake the 17.5 million price tag and he's worth half that, if that.

Santa isnt good enough to be a starter for a top 4 club. He's also a really piss poor substitute as he takes a while to get into matches.

Tevez, Adebayor, Ballotelli, and, inexplicably, Jo are ahead of him in the one man 'strikerforce' Mancini employs at the moment. Even those who think Jo is pretty mint because he scored 2 goals against Inter Milan around 15 years ago must admit Santa is at least a better option that the bumbling Brazilian.

But Mancini doesnt want him, i doubt we'll see much of him and in 5 months time, for his sake, he'll hopefully have a new club.
