One to watch - Joan Angel Roman

Postby Moonchesteri » Wed Sep 01, 2010 1:47 pm

There's a nice 5min video about him on the OS. Basicly just interview with him and Andy Welsh with some basic training videos.

Good stuff, I do like the videos on the OS.

How old is he now? Wasn't he 16 when we signed him so now 17? 18?
Anyone seen him play?

Only seen him on video.

Whilst on the subject of young boys from Spain though, anyone know what happened with Gay Arse Lyn? I remember he got injured but did he get fit again & have we trialled him yet? Was he out of contract so we could sign him outside the window? Can't remember.

Still injured ok cheers. Was he out of contract (so presumably still able to sign for us) though? I've forgotten.

pretty sure his contact with barca was ended by mutual consent, so yes should be a free agent

Thanks. We may have another player in the picture once he gets fit then, as he's someone I would expect to see around the 1st team squad if we sign him.

Yes, I have seen him a few times. If you want to see a bit of him in action look under city tv on the official site for the academy game against Arsenal.Hes 17 going on 18 -so this is the last year he can play in the youth cup.

Ithink his best position is behind the striker. He played wide left when I saw him play against Leeds a few months ago; didnt suit him as he didnt get too much of the ball. When he did he scored twice-both occassions goals he made for himself.Makes sense to play him somewhere he can have a strong influence on the game because hes obviously a technically gifted player.

Not seen anything official about assulin-heard he was injured and maybe he would have another opportunity at City when he was fit again.

Interesting. Does he seem as if he'll have the neccessary pace/strength to be an effective PL player in the future?

Not noticed him having outstanding pace.He has a squat build that gives him quite a low gravity which helps his balance.Very adept at shielding the ball with his body +very clever with some of his imaginative passing into the channels.

Ill have another look at him on saturday.

It was just such a pass that put Bunn in for a goal against Arsenal the other week.Very clever stuff.

I saw him today again some nice touches in a slightly fortunate win for the under 18s.
