Players more interested in money than football at Manchester City - Blackburn Rovers striker Benjani
Forward blasts former club...

Blackburn Rovers' new signing Benjani has had a parting shot at former club Manchester City - claiming that money and not football is the only thing some of the players are interested in.

The Zimbabwe international, who has also played for Portsmouth in the Premier League, said that there was no trust at the big spending club.

He told Sky Sports News: "It sounds great, but in football money is not everything.

"What is needed is people who can hang around and love you to be there.

"Sometimes you are loved to be there because of money, which is not good.

"I would prefer to be here without having all those facilities, be happy and trust everyone around you."

Benjani, who is hoping to make his Blackburn debut against Manchester City, was released by the Eastlands outfit earlier this summer, having arrived two-and-a-half years ago as a signing from then manager Sven-Goran Eriksson.

And when asked if he thought some players at City were more interested in money, Benjani said: "Yes, it seemed like that and behind the scenes, there is no trust.

"I would prefer to play for a club where you are being trusted and you trust everyone around you."

It follows a similar blast from former Manchester City midfielder Stephen Ireland, who left the club after being deemed surplus to requirements by manager Roberto Mancini.

After Ireland signed for Aston Villa as part of the deal to bring England midfielder James Milner in the opposite direction Ireland also claimed that all was not well behind the scenes at the club.

Well we shouldn't have tippled his pay when be brought him in from Portsmouth then if he doesn't care about the cash.

Ireland, Benjani, Petrov - all players getting bitter because they are not good enough to be carried along the gravy train that is Manchester City.

As far as I know, Benjani wished everyone at City well. Then the journos started questioning him specifically about City rather than his new club. Journos digging for sour grapes - par for the course.

Good luck Benny except when you face City.

I think there probably right, but I think Bellamy leaving will have calmed things down a lot.

Fringe players leaving will help. fill a dressing room with quality high earners and there all equal, equality is a good thing, spirit was there for all to see vs Liverpool, we should have beaten Sunderland.

A few good wins and it will all pull together.

He is surrounded by such trust that they have him on a pay as you play deal.

And what's he doing in England if it's not about the money? surely there's a local Zimbabwean team he could have spent his career at.

Thick cunt and shite at football all in one.

Expect so. He was & still is responsible for most of the world's problems. If it hadn't been for him I'm sure Ireland, Petrov, Robinho, would still be at City. Trevor Francis too. There'd be no problems in Pakistan & John Lennon would still be alive..

The fall from the gravy train must have been a long one, seems to have hurt the shite pretty badly!

Never saw much Football from Benji either to be fair, so what was he all about ... ?

I thought I was replying to a post on that subject.
Don't see why I'm not allowed to make up stories about him like everyone else.
