Did you miss an opportunity there?

1. Him getting up to speed with the Prem.. and how long that takes ( he may even have to shift role )
2. How 1 pans out and who he starts to play best / develop understanding with.
I think 1 may take a while. And i think Bob will use him when it suits Silva's game and who the oppo is.
Long term i would like to see him in front of Yaya in the centre instead of Uncle Carlos's deep position. Balotelli/ Ade up front and AJ and Milner or SWP out wide. Basically as a complete change from relying on Tevez.

I'm wondering how long it's possible to keep a player like Silva on the sidelines though. Positionally I can't see him as a replacement for Tevez. There are too many other aspects to Tevez' game; goals workrate etc.
I could actually see him as an alternative to Johnson with Tevez centre & Balotelli left or playing Yaya's position with Tevez & Balotelli upfront. It's not obvious how he'll get in though. We need to get him involved soon or pressure will build.

Yeah tbh i was thinking very much the same.. ie he will have to compete with AJ. But then ive been thinking also that although it is difficult to see us not using Tevez, i really think we have to develop another approach and suffer the loss of evrything Carlito brings. He cant play every game and we cant rely on him so much, something has to give. If you take Tevez out of the running and then dream up teams and tactics with what is left, there is plenty to go at. So imo that would be sensible for us to do.
As for how long for him to settle in.. fucl knows, but i think he at least will be very aware he needs time to adapt.. the fans and the press though are another matter.

Oh we'll definitely have to use an alternative plan to Tevez, for sure but Silva at his best, is an 'A' team player who starts the big games & you would expect a plan needs to be found for him & Tevez to work together. I'm sure when Mancini went for him it was with a view to playing both of them.

I just have a feeling he will be another robinho but he is spanish so he has one up on robbie.

He has been off the pace so far. The 'fitness' thing people are referring to is actually mostly match fitness due to missing pre season, which we're hoping is the reason for him being off the pace. Also, If anyone looks at the Sunderland goal, he started to track the runner & gave up half way. If he was fully fit, I'd like to think he'd make more of an effort in such an important phase of the game. If that's not the case, then he won't be around very long as neither Mancini nor the fans will let him off with it forever, as Robinho & Ireland found.

The date's wrong. It all went pear shaped one day & for some reason I ended up with that joining date. Can't remember when I actually first posted but it was well before then!
