Carlingmilkworthless Cup

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Carlingmilkworthless Cup

Postby Bianchi on Ice » Wed Sep 22, 2010 6:40 pm

All the top sides including City are now treating this competition like shit on their shoes.
All the other major football playing nations have just one cup compo, except us and the French.
I know the smaller clubs need the revenue, but this mockery cant go on.
Any suggestions to introduce some credibility to the league cup or should we scrap it and try something else?

It's fucking important to me & I'm expecting to win it unless beaten by a top side. Correction: was expecting to win it.

I think it's fine the way it is. It's a midweek domestic cup competition, teams should be free to treat it however they choose.

Chelsea under Jose - they won League Cup and lots of other trophies followed.

United under Fergie when he was under pressure in 05-06 - he won the League Cup and lots of other trophies followed.

I find the attitude of the opening poster towards this comp very strange when we haven't won anything for 34 years.

For me the competition with about 7-8 strong sides in the lge means that it is hard to win trophies and I certainly want us to win this cup or any trophy badly to get us going as a major force again.

Sorry Mark I'm not personally having a go at the League cup, but the attitude of the top sides to it. I agree totally with anyone who thinks this cup is a viable trophy BUT its plain to see its not being taken seriously. City have had flak about so-called massive squad and we cant pick a team to nail down the win tonight? whats the point?

OUR ONLY CHANCE AT WINNING SILVERWARE WAS THIS WORTHLESS FUCKING CUP.

FA CUP? FAT CHANCE
EUROPA LEAGUE? ONLY 50 GAMES LEFT TO GO

I couldn't give a shite tbh. So long as we finish in the top 4, I could quite happily see out another season without winning anything.

Last time i checked we don't earn a trophy for qualifying for the Champions Lge.

Trophies are hugely important especially as we haven't won a cup for 34 years.

I'm firmly supportive of Mancini and think he is the right manager for us but hugely disappointed with his side.

It's a much bigger picture than that mate, don't be so short sighted.
A CL place is worth more than the league cup and FA cup put together.

That said, I would have liked a decent cup run but this is City. It wouldn't be normal without a few utter fuck-ups to remind everyone where the ground is and where our feet should be.

Only a couple of "smaller" teams have actually won the League Cup in the past 10 years. A cup is a cup and the big teams seem to win it very often. How do they cope winning the league, playing in champions league finals and the league cup too?

It's a short sighted mentality of our supporters saying we don't need to bother with the league cup.
