I agree. Also its strange that the media is reporting that baconface told shrek to "get some rest" instead of saying that he's dropped.

to be fair he is one of the best 10 players in the world on form, so him being off form and dropped is pretty significant, regardless of for whom he plays his football.

cheers

He's one of the 10 most marketable soccer athletes on form. He's a really good player but his record doesn't really support the hypothesis that he's one of the very best players in the world. He's been about a goal every 2 games for one of the most potent attacking teams in the world.

the debate about Rooney always feels so partisan. And i guess for many it should. I think Ronk's post above attempting to refute my point actually imho somewhat proves it...goalscorer with a rate of nearly 1 in 2 for one of the most potent attacking teams around, and also having won everything under the sun doesn't hurt either.

It's not hard to find fault with his game, and he's clearly not living up to his hype at the moment, but i really believe he's one of the best footballers in the world on form. And i also believe that about Tevez if it makes you feel any better.

cheers

He's also the member of the strike force who's hung around when they couldn't handle the competition from other players.

Rooney's record is good, but doesn't really stand up compared to guys like Torres, Villa and Drogba. Rooney had probably his best ever year last year but still posted only 3 league goals more than Tevez in a settled team with 30 goal-difference better when we were playing so badly that we sacked our manager and were completely unsettled.

In no way is he a bad player, but he's definitely over-hyped.

Not done a right lot for England, like.
